An emergency proclamation issued Thursday in Stillwater, Oklahoma, requiring the use of face masks in stores and restaurants was amended Friday after threats of violence.
"In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been required for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse," Stillwater City Manager Norman McNickle said in a statement.

People who are afraid should stay at home and self-isolate. I promise I won’t try to stop them.
If I am not afraid and want to go out to restaurants with other people who are not afraid, then I should just be allowed to do it. Don’t try to stop me.

If businesses want to enforce “safety” measures, I won’t begrudge them that right. Any attempt by state governments to “require” it is ridiculous.
My wife and I freely choose to remain mask-free. We are relatively young and are socially isolated due to the nature of our work and where we live. The chance of us being a carrier is abysmally low. I’ve gone to some locations where a mask is “recommended” by a business owner. I keep some gaiters in my center console for fishing, and I’ll use one as a face covering if I have to; but the absurdity of it all isn’t lost on me.
If you’re not feeling well, stay at home. If you’ve been in contact with someone recently who isn’t feeling well, stay home. Otherwise, I don’t see why we’re living in and being force fed this media-fueled culture of fear.
I’m not in favor of this stupid mask virtue signalling, but if I’m a store owner and you spew verbal abuse at my employees or me, you’re banned. No second chances. I don’t care what your excuse is. If you disagree with the mask BS, get active for once in your life and take it up with your politicians. Spew the abuse at them. They actually deserve it.
Some little turd mayor just did this in Newton Falls Oh and the GOV RESCINDED it statewide.

A “proclamation” to wear masks is really a threat of violence if you don’t obey. They started with the threats. How are people supposed to deal with a bully?
I live 36 miles from this city in otherwise rural Oklahoma. One jackass threatened serious violence against employees of a store and this becomes a national story. The reason it is a NATIONAL story is to impinge the reputation of all the other peaceful protesters showing up in large numbers in Blue states.
It’s what the enemedia does!
Heck, there are jackasses all over; some threaten violence if there’s mustard or a pickle on their cheeseburger.

When I don my mask to go shopping for essentials, - that’s my choice. I don’t need a mandatory order or requirement. Don’t try to stop me.
As for those that insist on risking the spread of a fatal disease and happen to die ? That’s their choice. Just don’t expect the taxpayers to foot the bill for their funerals, or to provide for their survivors. Go ahead do your thing, I really don’t care what you do. Just don’t ask me to clean up the mess you leave.
Perhaps if you feel your employees are being verbally “abused” (what does that really mean? If I say the requirement to wear a mask in the store is horseshit and whomever came up with it is an assh*le, is that verbal abuse or the stating of an opinion?)
Customers bring you money, employees mostly cost you money. Choose wisely and perhaps put up a sign naming yourself as responsible for the requirement and asking those with complaints to address them to you personally and not the staff.

Except according to physicians they don’t necessarily do that and in fact can actually help in spreading because the virus can live for DAYS on the mask and cause you to carry it from one place to another.
