Tehama County, Calif. The Palomino Room in Red Bluff has been shut down for eight weeks; but on Friday, they tried to bring people back in the door while stating theyre donating 100% of their proceeds made on May 1 to child abuse prevention in Tehama County.
Tehama County has had one case of coronavirus (COVID-19) and many who live in the area have been arguing it's time to get back to normal for rural communities.
On Friday, owner Carlos Zapata chose to reopen the dining room at The Palomino Room, and customers were eagerly waiting for the doors to open.
They posted some protocols at their front doors for all customers to acknowledge before entering the restaurant.
When Zapata was asked about the decision to open even without permission from the state or county, he said May 1 felt like the right day to get back to business.
Someones got to jump in the pool first. And I figured Ive always been a leader my whole life. Im always the first one to do things. Ive really just been listening to other business owners talk and listened to their wants and needs and I figured what a better time right now on May first, eight weeks after the initial closure to open up. Its time.
Reopening the restaurant has gotten attention nationwide, so he thought what better way to give back to the community by donating all proceeds to child abuse prevention. And while he hasnt chosen which child abuse prevention organization to donate the funds to, The Tehama County Child Abuse Prevention Council said in a Facebook post that they will not be accepting the money because they do not condone the violation of the Governor's Shelter in Place order. KRCR reached back out to Zapata and he says if they dont want to accept the money, they will find another child abuse organization or business that will.
I really hope that I get to see N actual “Shove it up your Demo-Hole, governor” revolts, where N is a large number.
It could be the start of the population finally realizing that the left wing is a much greater enemy than any virus.
That’s why I’m posting these every time I see one in my area. I’m hoping all these little grass-root revolts will build if people see other folks showing courage.
Good Job,Griz.
“the left wing is a much greater enemy than any virus.”
You said a mouthful right there my friend
We live in a “hot spot”, the eastern part of King County, the first place in the country to have deaths from “Covid-19”. By the time the governor’s “stay at home” order went into effect, our local hospitals had already gone back to normal and because of the ban on “elective” procedures have been nearly empty since then.
Even here with a steady trickle of deaths from the coronavirus people are sick and tired of the heavy handed nonsense. We were lied to about the intent being to “flatten the curve”. Now the intent is obviously to trash the economy and keep a boot on the throat of the sheeple.
But despite this traffic on the roads has returned to normal, people are getting back to their normal routines. Governor Dimsley is now being ignored and for good reason. At this point we still have a sizable number of people just like here on Free Republic who are scared of their own shadow and wearing two masks when driving alone in their cars and walking alone outside. But a sizable majority have come to realize that if you are not elderly or in a risk group you are in almost no danger and would have been better off being exposed and becoming resistant weeks ago when the weather was crappy so you wouldn’t still be a danger to grandma when you give her a hug.
This nonsense has got to stop!
I wonder if his offer to donate the proceeds of his first day opening wasn’t meant to inoculate him against criticism from the loony liberals.
“The Tehama County Child Abuse Prevention Council said in a Facebook post that they will not be accepting the money because ‘they do not condone the violation of the Governor’s Shelter in Place order.’
So for them it’s preferable that children be beaten and/or killed than for their little organization to be un-PC. Despicable.
I don’t do FB, but am wondering if they’ve had any pushback from patriots.
I believe that’s exactly what he’s doing..inoculation against the tyrants who will surely face a conundrum
“For the children”...guess that’s only when you’re “for the State.”

The rolling hills and oak trees of Tehama county make it the prettiest place on earth.
Except in mid summer when it is 112 deg.
“Except in mid summer when it is 112 deg.”
Yup, it’s like it’s own corner of the oven. Brutal heat.
In another lifetime, my wife and I were transplants from Ohio and relocated to Hollywood for ~ 5 years. I still recall the 100+ degrees during the Santa Ana winds in late Aug thru September.
We never got to northern Cali including Monterey/Pebble Beach.
this is on their FB page..
“- Since our donation was rudely rejected, we will be donating to a local charity to be determined.”
Were similar here innElDorado County which touches Sacramento County on its Eastern Edge.
Yesterday 3 restaurants had opened. Local paper quoted our excellent local Sheriff saying he would not enforce the States position.
One of the restaurants was visited by County Health officials, shut down and apparently fined.
I own commercial properties with tenants who now havent paid rent or utilities for 2nd month. All tenants have applied for assistance though none have gotten anything.
Aside from a few mouthy liberals that live here most of our county is Ready to Open
