Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday that his preliminary plan for easing COVID-19 restrictions would permit businesses to reopen to varying degrees on May 20, assuming the increased availability of testing and a continued reduction in hospitalizations and illnesses due to the novel coronavirus.
The governor said that hospitalizations fell for an eighth consecutive day, a key metric. But his advisers warned that social distancing and other protective measures would continue indefinitely to guard against a resurgence of a disease blamed for 2,257 deaths in Connecticut.
There were 933 new cases and 89 deaths recorded Thursday, reminders that the state must stay on guard until the availability of a vaccine or more effective therapeutic options for a severe respiratory disease caused by a virus unknown a year ago.

Im not betting on that May 20 date.
Too many caveats in Lamonts statements.
HCQ/Z-pack/Zinc is in Phase 3 of clinical study which is the approval phase. He won’t have much longer to wait.
Missouri is opening fully on May 4th but social distancing guidelines still need to be followed. Never been any mention of mandatory masks except in nursing homes. I’ve seen a few older people wearing them but that’s it. Wife’s birthday is May 4th so we’ll be going out to eat, for lunch. First meal served at this place in a month will be lunch that day so it ought to be nice and clean.
Really? Great news. Do you have a source for that?
There are several Phase 3 studies going on, Here is one:

Very exciting! Thanks.
“Baby steps” means hire a well-connected law firm to pay off a state legislator or administration official to get your business on the list of “early openers.” This lockdown is a lesson in crony capitalism at its finest.
The New England SIX are slow walking for another month or so to crash their economies. They are hoping that their actions cause Trump to get the blame. Clearly that’s their game plan, we’ll see how it works out.
May 20th?Bring Out Your DeadMaybe.
The lock-down will be over in May, one way or another.
Either it would be officially called off, or We The People would simply ignore it.
What police department wants all their officers tied up in endless jury trials, all of which end up in acquittal?
Politicians are going to have to try to get it front of this parade and pretend to lead, or try to stop the stampede and be trampled.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
The false positive rate was 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old farts life, it's worth it.
The way the Dems have mauled Konnecticut's economy over the years, it's hard to believe it could get worse. But it has.
(What the heck am I still doing in this Blue state hell-hole?)
My wife works for a hospital system in CT. They are chomping at the bit to hit their 14 days of decline. They need to open back up to elective surgery or they will go bankrupt.
While they play along with the “be safe” stuff, they have already furloughed people; they have another round on the books; and they are asking all employees to take one day a month without pay.
So, if the medical experts are saying they want this to end and get back to business...I am all for it.
Now, I would love to know how many days the President of the group has gone without pay...but that would make me sound like a liberal jerk.
I will call my mortgage company today and see if they can go a day this month gratis. I will call the town and see if they can forego a day of tax collection.
You know...take one for the team.
I think the from a health perspective there are a lot of unanswered questions...it appears to me it is time to move on this stuff.
Many on the right think this is vastly overblown and they mock those wearing masks etc. As for the bug, the data are clear. The young and healthy are less at risk than the old and infirm. Vaporizing the service sector nationally wasn't a good idea, I agree, but this is no boating accident, folks.
From an Election 2020 perspective, in the midst of the pandemic, those centrists who are receptive to MAGA are faced with three mindsets: flubros, hysterics, and a reasonable lot that can help them navigate the contours of the fake news and get us back to normal.
Our side has a golden opportunity to capture these souls and return the nation to greatness. The other side knows conservatives generally think this is all overblown. And maybe it is. But they also understand strategy. Sure, people can vent as much as they want...it's a free country. But venting in a way that turns off voters ("I don't want to be associated with that jackwagon") may be just what the provocateurs want you to do. If we act like a hockey player being provoked by a goon, and lash out/tell everyone they're being a wuss and they need to man-up already...well...President Biden has a re-education camp for you.
The good news is the debate about "flattening the curve" seems to be giving way to "I want a paycheck." The tide seems to be turning - America wants to get back to work. If our side can control themselves and put a sock in it (btw, since when did conservatives think it was cool to act like liberals and tell everyone what's best for them?) while Americans clamor for business to reopen, then we can watch the left do their arrogance act/tell us how to behave economically, and let centrists forgive our previous overbearing attitude.
It's only the re-election of Trump vs the destruction of the nation about which we're talking.
Well said.
I thought the medical slowdowns for ‘elective’ stuff was because we didn’t have supplies for all that given we weren’t getting any more from China. And didn’t have enough PPE, antibiotics/other medications to do the emergency stuff AND the face lifts, boob jobs, etc.
Has that changed?
Ping.
I started out in Team Pandemic when I saw how China reacted when the virus they developed was detected outside their lab. They had horrific responses, and most honest sources agree they had unreported death rates to match.
I’m now inclined towards Team Reality based on the lower death rates as the virus mutates to less virulent strains and more people are developing antibodies in the wild due to sub-clinical infections.
That being said, with my nonagenarian mom living with us we’ll be staying hunkered down for awhile.
That’s my general risk assessment for society as a whole, minimal, acceptable risk, and my personal family risk, low, but err on the side of caution.
Make your own assessments and act accordingly...
