Explosive internal FBI documents unsealed Wednesday show bureau officials executed a "meticulously planned-out scheme" in January 2017 to set up then-national security adviser Michael Flynn, former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy told Fox News Wednesday.
"What we are seeing is a meticulously planned-out scheme to try to get a 33-year combat veteran of the United States to say something that was inaccurate so that they would have a basis to try to charge him with false statements or otherwise get him fired," McCarthy told "The Story."
The documents turned over by the Justice Department late Wednesday include handwritten notes in which FBI officials openly indicated that their "goal" was "to get him [Flynn] to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired" during special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into alleged collusion by Americans with Russian officials at the time of the 2016 election.
The handwritten notes -- written by the FBI's former head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap after a meeting with then-FBI Director James Comey and then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe -- indicated that agents planned to get Flynn “to admit to breaking the Logan Act” and catch him in a lie.

I still don’t understand why the FBI wanted him out. It doesn’t appear they were trying to get him to incriminate Trump, as they did with Roger Stone. May be I’m missing something or simply forgot.

I watched FNC last night and they explained it.
Flynn worked for Obama. Obama hated Flynn. Going after Flynn made perfect sense for the FBI.
They disrupt the new Trump administration.
They make Obama happy by taking out Flynn.
They stand a chance of flipping Flynn and removing Trump.
1. Angered 0bama administration by calling them on the carpet for weakness against Iran.
2. One of Andrew McCabe's guys sexually abused one of Flynn's prior personnel and held his feet to the fire, making McCabe vindictive.
3. The U.N. vote by Samantha Power against Israel in December 2016. Flynn was calling Kysiak of Russia to get him to change his U.N. vote, thus polarizing the outgoing 0bama administration once again.

Because every indictment in the Russian problem was announced as a conviction on the networks. And that was meant just to make Trump look guilty.
It didn't matter if they were fake indictments, like the ones against Russians, Real indictments against Russians in Russia would have been sealed until they were caught, they were announced to make Trump look bad and warn the inducted to avoid capture.

What I am wondering is, how soon before some of these perpetrators end up in jail or am I just indulging in wishful thinking? Too bad when law and order is ignored and goes out the window, the whole country is not too far behind.

Is Flynn still in prison? Have the agents involved been arrested yet? No? Then it is certainly no bombshell. Wake me up when the traitorous wretches are arrested and facing charges. Everything else is like Sean Hannity - nothing but hot air.
Working with a foreign government to undermine a U.S. vote in the United Nations seems like an incredibly stupid and audacious thing for anyone to do -- regardless of the politics behind it. I can't imagine why anyone would feel a need to defend that kind of nonsense.
There was a long-held personal animosity, for various reasons. Flynn was a threat to expose the internnational shenanigans, and taking him out hobbles Trump.
I disagree that the plan had to be meticulosly planned. All they need is the decision to take him out, the details take care of themselves, these clowns have the power to charge innocent people, and this is not their first rodeo. Plus they have the courts on their side, every time.
Flynn has never been in prison.
