The UK’s five-day average for coronavirus deaths is now the highest of any major European economy at this point in the pandemic’s curve, new analysis has revealed.
At this point in the pandemic, some 42 days since the tenth death, the five-day average for deaths in the UK stands at 598, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. This is far higher than Italy (559), France (509) and Spain (423).
UK coronavirus deaths have been the highest among all major European countries for four days in a row, overtaking France at this stage of the pandemic.
The total number of deaths in the UK hit 26,097 on Wednesday after some - but not all - victims in care homes and the community were added to hospital fatalities for the first time.
The change in reporting methods has allowed a direct comparison to Italy - the original European epicentre of the deadly virus - because Downing Street said care home deaths were also included in Italy's nationwide death toll.
Britain's 26,097 tally sits just below Italy's 27,682. However the UK toll will eclipse that figure within days because fatalities in Italy are declining at a much greater daily rate than in Britain, which is roughly two weeks behind Italy in the course of the pandemic.

If you size- and time-adjust the fatality totals the U.K. is bad but not nearly as bad as Belgium, Spain and France. The U.K. Is also better than New York, NJ, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Louisiana , Rhode Island, and D.C.

And if there are over-zealous doctors that treat all CV19 positive testing corpses as “died from CV19” the numbers will be padded.
Also, when it comes to countries, I see each state in the US and EU as a separate country. NY is in a bad way. CA, not so much.
We should all be praising God that Heart Disease and Cancer have been miraculously eradicated because of Coronavirus!!! /s

We are in the midst of the worst (regular) flu season in 4 decades. But we are hearing and seeing nothing about the deaths caused by this years flu. Instead every single death is classified as a Chinese Virus death.

By padded I don’t mean totally made up. Rather I am referring to the practice of citing the China Virus as the cause of death without definitive proof.
There are reasons in this country. The gov’t is paying Hospitals extra for treating CV patients.
It’s standard for Medicare to pay a hospital roughly three times as much for a patient who goes on a ventilator, as for one who doesn’t.
Medicare is paying a 20% add-on to its regular hospital payments for the treatment of COVID-19 victims. That’s a result of a federal stimulus law.
Other Nations use differing criteria to place the cause of death on CV. There is no sense to how the numbers are being compiled.
Finally the easiest way to control a population is to keep them in a state of panic. I find it strange that after seeing a steady decline in reported deaths and new cases they are suddenly on the rise again after it has become obvious the folks are getting fed up with the lock down and are beginning to ignore it in ever increasing numbers.
Of course the numbers are being padded. We’ve read article after article after article confirming it, from people who are actually there. It’s enough to piss off a saint. However, it’s also encouraging because previously, all news that ran contrary to the “official line” was quashed, but now, more and more people are speaking out.
You’re right about panicked populations being easier to control. What the “controllers” fail to realize is that when people lose all hope, they become desperate. And desperate people are apt to react violently, as they no longer have anything left to lose.
