... "There was a lot of pressure in pretty much all of these American cities to reopen," said Navarro, whose research was done in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "When they removed those restrictions too soon, then many cities saw a resurgence in cases."
The center's research found that cities that used "early, sustained and layered" practices such as social distancing, closing public events and stay-at-home orders "fared better than those that did not." ...

Screaming media headline: EVERYONE WHO WAS SICK FROM THE 1918 SPANISH FLU IS NOW DEAD!!
Cuomo has already made a total a** of himself by denying people access to the malaria cocktail and by sending infected elderly BACK to their nursing home TO DIE.
LOL flubros counter with
“100% of COVID infections were asymptomatic” (at some point in time).
Malnourishment and a lack of medicines was the major cause of deaths
The WHO and the CDC continue to lie to maintain their money and power
We will. Neither side is changing minds at this point.
It looks like most of the nation is going to go for a phased approach like the CDC and this article recommends.
But it also sounds like a lot of people are resistant to the idea of wearing masks or doing anything out of the ordinary. It's just not that hard to do it right the first time.
Those are the people that will cause us to go back on lock down and turn this thing into a 4 or 5 month debacle instead of the 8 to 12 weeks it should have been.
Are we comparing to what was done in other years now? Because weve been told this is totally different and that old examples and policies arent valid.
This great opportunity to try out a total command-and-control regime was not entirely a wasted effort. It brought into sharp focus just what we are fighting against in finally getting a chance to try out the American Experiment in relatively pure form, the Trump resurgence. Allowing the greatest number of individual initiatives to proceed, and relieving the double burdens of inappropriate taxation and excessive regulation, was in the process of initiating one of the greatest of economic booms this country has ever known.
Then SLAM! The door to that future was suddenly closed for what are, more and more, largely specious reasons, due to a rapidly contagious and largely unknown disease, with unknown effects on various demographics.
The world knows VASTLY more about the spread, treatment, and effective strategies in dealing with this new plague than was known six weeks ago, and we seem to be gaining some momentum in containment and prevention of future recurrences. But there is a large and dedicated minority that wants to deny everything already learned, and continue the original strategy, not for medical or proven scientific reasons, but for economic control through command tactics.
A naked grab for power.
The SPanish Flu came back with a much more deadly version in the second year. That’s why more people died.
Most of the stories about “lifted restrictions” causing a resurgence are faulty on the time-line, as the second wave started a few months before the war ended, and the restriction lifting mostly happened after the war ended.
THe war spread the disease a lot further, and a larger percentage of infected people died because it was more deadly.
And they completely sucked relative to Sri Lanka.
When you are queen of the pearl clutchers you have a reputation to uphold. I’m not sure how his husband puts up with it.
Considering San Francisco’s history of putting politics ahead of public health when it comes to quarantine policy, they really shouldn’t go there.
Case in point: How the city handled the bubonic plate epidemic in the first decade of the 1900’s.
Bugs come and go. Technology races ahead. But some things never change. Including SF politicians.
Eventually, everybody will have the same infection rates, because it isn’t going away, and without a vaccine, everybody will eventually get it.
ALthough I suppose so long as you have sacrificial lambs to go get you food, provide you energy for your house, and police your streets so nobody comes and robs or kills you, you could hide in your basement for a couple of years and avoid it.
I think if we do it right, it could die out soon and long before we reach herd immunity.
I still go to the grocery store. I just go early when nobody is there and the air is fresh. And I wear a mask.
I do need the sacrificial lambs to keep the utilities on. And to collect the dead bodies if someone does try to rob me.
I think we are up to about 50% wearing masks in my area. It needs to be 100%. But we are getting there.
Tennessee reopened it’s restaurants today at half occupancy. And they’ve called for everyone to wear masks. We’ll see if they do.
Wearing a mask in public = Low IQ.
Why don’t the democrat voters just stay home until the end of November. (no voting by mail, though) Works for me.
It’s been 4 weeks, A-hole!!! How much longer do you think this should go on? Until we’re in a deep depression?
Oh, and where's Jack's mask?! ... the irresponsible miscreant!! [I get the message you're attempting to send with the photo; but your choice of Nicholson is not good ... you see, he's a man, and in the movie you lifted this from, he wasn't afraid of a damn thing ... remember?]
Population:
Denmark - 5,822,763
Norway - 5,312,300
Finland - 5,520,000
Sweden - 10,200,00
Covi-19 confirmed cases:
Denmark - 8,698
Norway - 7,554
Finland - 4,695
Sweden - 18,926
Covi-19 deaths:
Denmark - 427
Norway - 205
Finland - 193
Sweden - 2,274
Median age:
Denmark - 42.3
Norway - 39.3
Finland - 42.6
Sweden - 41.1
So while Sweden has 66% of the population of all of the other 3 countries combined, they have less confirmed cases than the other 3 combined, but they do have approximately 60% more deaths than the other 3 combined.
So all in all not really much difference between Sweden and the other 3 countries combined. We also do not know what is being done for each person that contracts Covid-19, nor do we know the age of those who died, at least I couldn't really find the information on that.
We’re wearing masks everywhere here now; we’ve been doing it at work for a couple of weeks, and also setting up distancing, and working shifts and opened up on weekends, and working from home, all to lessen our interactions.
But we’re essential, my son is essential, and Virginia was actually a little less draconian in lockdown as some of the other liberal states.
