On Thursday, Police Chief Foti Koskinas and First Selectman Jim Marpe said the drone surveillance plan would not come to fruition because it was not well-received, according to Westport News.
In our good faith effort to get ahead of the virus and potential need to manage and safely monitor crowds and social distancing in this environment, our announcement was perhaps misinterpreted, not well-received, and posed many additional questions, Marpe said in a statement.

...high-tech drones that can detect symptoms of coronavirus infection from up to 190 feet away.

couple drones shot down. Doh!
Good faith effort. Those three words can kill millions.
Waiting for the gateschips are they?

Any police officer that would suggest or approve of drones to spy on the citizenry is utterly unfit to wear a badge.
I wonder how many pics they got of people giving the drone the finger
Right up there with pink armbands in the “stupid things we thought would work” category.
Why should anyone believe them?
I wonder how much tax money they paid for these wonder drones with long range virus detectors? I would love to see them demonstrate this break through technology to the medical world.
Had a friend who passed away over 10 years ago. He rented a cottage on one of the large estates in Westport. Its a very wealthy town
He use to watch the yatchs as they left port.
A news story from March 2020.
Connecticut 40th birthday gathering of 50 guests from across the US and abroad is dubbed ‘Party Zero’ after half became infected with coronavirus - and spread the disease across several states and countries
Guess where in CT.
Leftist tyrants always do these things for the people. Always.
I am guessing some stupid police officer(s) wanted to play with drones. Regardless, fire the asshats who pushed for and approved of this.
