The coronavirus pandemic has brought significant challenges to our families and our communities. From schools to the workplace, our daily routines have been turned inside out. We have witnessed a heartbreaking loss of life. And millions have lost their jobs.
The response to this pandemic is the biggest story of our lives. At The Sacramento Bee, we feel a significant responsibility to report and share with you the full picture.

Some conservative sites won’t allow you if you have an ad-blocker ad-blocker. The Daily Caller is one, but it has so much background crap going on that it locks up my computer after about three minutes if I don’t have an ad blocker turned on, so I avoid it.
Newspapers are the buggy whips of the modern media age. They won't survive much longer anyway, virus or not.
None of them should be bailed out or propped up because of this pandemic. They should convert to online editions or just go out of business. There is plenty of news to be had online already.
I haven't taken or read a hardcopy newspaper for over 20 years and I still am able to stay up with current events. They are old school vestiges of the way it used to be, not the way of the future.
Let this pandemic be their opportunity to die a quick death.
I think The Seattle Times got more than a million dollars from one of the relief packages. You’d think the Bee would have gotten something too.
So in order to read their plea for help I must turn off my ad blocker or pay $ to subscribe? Really?
I see toilet paper in your future
As we use to say years ago when I lived in Fresno. "Save a Tree, ban the Bee"
“What do they want?”
They want to remain relevant instead of suffering the death they deserve for becoming what newspapers have become.
Sucks to be them.
Xlnt.

They want to remain relevant instead of suffering the death they deserve for becoming what newspapers have become.
To remain relevant, they now have to beg for money. No one wants to pay for their whining fake news.
Sucks to be them, not if we don’t want to see fake news.
Thanks for your reply!
ya just gotta love how the Democrat propaganda organs are now reduced to begging for money ...
“The response to this pandemic is the biggest story of our lives. At The Sacramento Bee, we feel a significant responsibility to report and share with you the full picture.
Our team published 670 stories in March, plus dozens of videos, Q&As, newsletters and voice updates.”
absolutely guaranteed every story is doom and gloom, supportive of shutting the economy down forever, 100% supportive of the Democrats and Ice Cream Nancy, and attacking President Trump for everything he did, and every article about HCQ trashing it, and not a single positive article about a single thing President Trump did ...
gosh, and then they wonder why they’re about to go bankrupt ...
True that. Especially the Sacramento Bee. Liberal rag.
Our local paper, The Southeast Missourian, is asking for subscriptions and donations. This after cutting back from six days a week to three because of the virus. They’re being hit by a double whammy. Fewer people read newspapers anymoremy wife does, that’s why we still subscribeand ad revenue is way off because of the closure of so many stores.
The sports page now runs stories about how good the local high school teams were and how the new coach at the university is going to turn things aroundif there is a season.
Frankly I don’t see the paper surviving.
“would much rather work for Babylon Bee”
indeed, but kommies do not have senses of humor, and really good humor is WAY more difficult to write than making up fake news anyway, WAY more difficult ... any hack can manufacture fake news, but it takes a truly talented person to write good humor ...
“So in order to read their plea for help I must turn off my ad blocker or pay $ to subscribe? Really?”
yep ... somehow that makes their begging seem less sincere, don’t you think?
They support sanctuary city/state laws and open borders why not publish in Spanish? Thats their market. When they collapse I wont notice or care.
“Media has only one purpose. It isnt to report news or hold government accountable or guard the First Amendment. Their sole aim is to sell advertising. Everything else is an adjunct.”
that’s absolutely true ... and it used to work pretty good when every newspapers each had an exclusive monopoly on advertising within a 1-2 hour trucking radius from the sole printing plant in that radius ... but then the Internet came along and destroyed that monopoly, with online advertising yielding approximately one billionth the revenue per ad as their former dead-tree monopoly pricing ...
“So the media has zealously used this pandemic to attack President Trump and shut down the economy to prevent his re-election. No economy, no advertising. They cut off their noses to spite their faces.”
they were doing this anyway before the pandemic, but the election of President Trump in conjunction with the pandemic VASTLY accelerated this nose-cutting, probably terminally ... Lenin liked to talk about capitalists manufacturing the rope that would be used to hang themselves with, but the leftists are the ones ending up hanging themselves ...
it’s really somewhat incomprehensible in the case of newspapers, that they can’t correlate cause with effect in their business, or maybe their corporate owners simply don’t care and are happy to sink their losses against their propaganda value, and then will simply abandon the whole works to the dust bin of history when they can no longer tolerate paying out for the losses ...
ha!
