“Media has only one purpose. It isnt to report news or hold government accountable or guard the First Amendment. Their sole aim is to sell advertising. Everything else is an adjunct.”
that’s absolutely true ... and it used to work pretty good when every newspapers each had an exclusive monopoly on advertising within a 1-2 hour trucking radius from the sole printing plant in that radius ... but then the Internet came along and destroyed that monopoly, with online advertising yielding approximately one billionth the revenue per ad as their former dead-tree monopoly pricing ...
“So the media has zealously used this pandemic to attack President Trump and shut down the economy to prevent his re-election. No economy, no advertising. They cut off their noses to spite their faces.”
they were doing this anyway before the pandemic, but the election of President Trump in conjunction with the pandemic VASTLY accelerated this nose-cutting, probably terminally ... Lenin liked to talk about capitalists manufacturing the rope that would be used to hang themselves with, but the leftists are the ones ending up hanging themselves ...

I think many media outlets are now owned by megacorporations of which the media revenue is but a small part. When industry and businesses were owned by people who loved and invested their lives in that particular business, then the health of that business was paramount. Nowadays, the media arms can be loss leaders or handy business loss deductions. I blame to some extent the professional managers, the management schools, and stateless billionaires for a lot of this.
