President Trump plans to pare back his coronavirus press conferences, according to four sources familiar with the internal deliberations.
Why this matters: Trump's daily press conferences — televised to a largely homebound population — have dominated the public discourse about the coronavirus.
Behind the scenes: A number of Trump's most trusted advisers — both inside and outside the White House — have urged him to stop doing marathon televised briefings.
But Trump has defended the practice, telling critics that the briefings get good ratings.

Maybe less frequent briefings will make the country realize that it’s time to move on a little bit more every day from this thing.
I’ll maybe I’m completely wrong :-)
I love his daily briefings. They add structure to my day and add so much information about daily changes and achievements.
I love seeing leadership and gratitude in action, and press smackdowns. And they are positive (other than Fauci/scarf lady) and better than getting news in other ways. I work from home all day, then watch/listen to the briefings around 4 pm PT, and then walk my dog for an hour.
Well said.
Wonder who the senior administration official is?
hopefully he stops them, and doesn’t talk so much, I agree people dont want to see him fighting every day with the press looks bad. especially with women. kinda dumb actually!
Im glad he didnt give the press any airtime
Its starting to feel like Groundhogs Day. I say once every 3 or 4 days now is plenty.
The briefings are the only chance he has to get out unfiltered messages. That’s why they don’t want to cover it live, but wait until they can edit it down to destroy him every day.
I think the reason for the polling favoring Biden is that so many people are so tired of the lockdowns and stay-at-home.
Transference has people attaching their feelings to Trump.
And Biden has been an it of the public eye which is to his advantage.
>> its time to move on a little bit more every day from this thing.
Indeed it is.
Yes, we have to move on from this, true. And it’s time. A true “quarantine” is 40 days—we’ve done that now. 15 days to “slow the spread” and now we are almost at 30 days more than that.
Maybe fewer briefings will correlate with new May reopenings and moving on. The fewer the briefings, the greater the reopenings. . .
Rachel Maddow agrees with you.
They’ve told him he’s overexposed and these appearances are part of the reason polls aren’t looking good for him right now against Joe Biden.
“I told him it’s not helping him,” said one adviser to the president. “Seniors are scared. And the spectacle of him fighting with the press isn’t what people want to see.”

Yup, good points.
(On the second part, it seems polling show his numbers dropping with the 60 and over crowd.)
Polls this far out also had McCain and Romney with leads.
If he stops them, it means he already has enough material from them for his campaign ads. Some of these have been epic barn-burners.
He needs a break and the press are pains in the butt. If I could just hear the President once in awhile it would be good.
Viewership will drop...not interested in the Fauxi/Scarf show.
Turn all changed on the 16th 1,as they know they had this thing licked
and we are on the downhill side
so its really just been a beat up the press
and crowing about how great we are and our people did and what leaders we are
today is a Friday news dump day and so thus the short facts
I'm sure he wants to get back to some normal business, getting some construction jobs going etc etc. and getting us back on track.
As for scaring people?? Fauci is the one saying we're all gonna die...and if we don't die now, we're gonna die in the fall.
The President, under some very difficult circumstances has done one helluva job getting these governors to move their butts instead of their mouths.
Two great ships...gone to waste. 40,000 machines....not even close.
Let's move off 3rd base and run one in.
Thank you President Trump. You've done an outstanding job of keeping us strong.
Tomorrow I'm going out and catch some rays and breathe in some fresh air...and that is as it should be.
