Chasing people away from churches, beaches, hiking trails, and parks, and arresting those who do not meekly comply, is not enforcing the “law,” it is enforcing the whimsical edicts of people unqualified to craft and issue them. When all of this is over, can the damage be undone?

The cops have a rather binary choice in this if the politicians that are on top of their chain of command are corrupt, political and unscrupulous. And at here are many, many such unscrupulous politicians who are the mayors and governors on top of the cop’s chain of command. Their choice is to follow the orders given...which protects the ability to pay their bills, mortgages, maintain their pensions and take care of their families...or not follow those orders and be fired for insubordination. Those mayors and governors are more than willing to make examples of them.

Interestingly, sheriffs are a different beast...they are elected in their own right and are often very different in the way they approach political issues than the mostly leftist mayors and often leftist governors.

Someone in the talk radio business should do a chain interview starting with the offending officer. Who told you to arrest these people? On the the next, you told the officer to do that, who told you that you should do that? and on up the food chain. I suspect that the buck will stop either with the original COP or with his commanding officer. COPs have a lot of discretion when it comes to arresting people. They don’t always arrest or cite people who have broken some law or rule or what-have-you.
If it’s the line officer they should be drummed out. If it’s a higher up they should be exposed and shamed. We don’t need anyone who enjoys being a jackbooted thug.

Law officers are patriots and uphold the law !

they do not want anything to do with these unconstitutional orders by these totalitarian governor’s or mayors

This will be coming more and more to as America reopens and stupid Democrats want to try to keep everything locked down

With all due respect to our hard-working cops, they need to get themselves up to speed on the Constitution’s division of federal and state powers with respect to enforcing the law.

Cops also need to be able to get advice from Constitution-respecting judges, such judges not necessarily easy to find.

Insights welcome.

Consider this, for what it’s worth. The cops are browbeat by their departments and the politicians to enforce these edicts. If they don’t, they to get in trouble, but by enforcing them people rise up, get angry and they get these things removed. I only suggest this because there is a cop humor page on Facebook and there are plenty of Memes indicating the cops do not want to enforce these restrictions.

I come to the sad conclusion law enforcement will always look after their backs first. Just consider what happened at WACO. Would cops help enforce racial laws if they were ordered to do so? I am not sure they would not.

The power governments have seized gives the the power to starve any section of the country they desire. Can’t buy seeds in Michigan? Can’t garden? Stalin’s tactics brought home to the US. Check out Uncles Joe’s starvation tactics.

The military taught us that those carrying out illegal orders are just as guilty as those issuing illegal orders. Many Cops are former military and should remember that.

I don’t think liberal bullies will be this critical of mosques busy for Ramadan, either.
