I wonder what the side effects are? I read this is an adenosine analog that is “viral specific” and the mechanism of action is to abruptly terminate the replicating chains of RNA but it seems like, if it were actually “virus specific” there should be no side effects.

It messes with the bases of the RNA strand, substituting a different base into the strand periodically to change the virus into something else, to where it can't replicate effectively.
Zinc, with Hydroxychloroquine (notice how I put the most import thing first, instead of what acts as the gateway into the cell to allow zinc) - actually stops the virus replicase.
Any "Hydroxychloroquine studies" that do not include zinc are useless. It's like seeing how far you can drive in a gas-powered car without gas - and complaining that it just sits there.

Put a real docter in charge of the study, using treatments in due course on a variety of patients with continuous monitoring. After THAT design a study that will give the Demprezifear optimum parameters to cure the disease.
These studies are applying the drug as if its a vaccine. No wonder it flops.
I suspect the drug is not being given early enough in the evolution of the disease. They test the patient until they are almost dead and then roll out the supposed miracle drug.
"Importantly, because this study was terminated early due to low enrolment, it was underpowered to enable statistically meaningful conclusions," it said. "As such, the study results are inconclusive, though trends in the data suggest a potential benefit for remdesivir, particularly among patients treated early in disease."
We desperately need an effective therapeutic. Something that works is a potential ticket out of this mess.

Still wondering what kind of side effects there could be. It’s curious, for this drug to work it would have to be taken up, transported to Ribosomes, and be present when the viral genome is being replicated. Seems to me that would be a serious first step before proceeding further with it but the way things are nowadays it doesn’t seem to be safe to assume a damn thing anymore.
AND it helps maintain a shiny coat.
Actually isn’t it VIRUSES we generally vaccinate AGAINST (prevent), whereas it’s BACTERIA we generally CURE (after the fact)?
