The anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine has been working in COVID-19 patients, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie said on Wednesday.
Wilkies comments come after a study looking at the effects of the drug in 368 patients in Veterans Health Administration hospitals found no evidence the drug is effective against COVID-19, a new disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.
Responding to the results during an appearance on MSNBC, Wilkie said, Thats just an observational study. Its not a clinical study. It was done on a small number of veterans; sadly, those of whom were in the last stages of life, and the drug was given to them.
The drug has been working on middle-age and younger veterans, Wilkie added. By that, he meant that it was stopping the progression of COVID-19.
The study in question can help inform doctors who are caring for veterans who have the CCP virus, Wilkie said.
Doctors across the nation have been prescribing hydroxychloroquine but there are a number of concerns about its effectiveness and, if it proves effective, medical workers want to pinpoint the correct dosage information and other matters regarding how and when to prescribe it.
Clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine are underway in Minnesota, Tennessee, and New York. Andrew Cuomo, the governor of the Empire State, asked for more doses of the drug to be delivered to New York City while in the Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump, according to Wilkie.
Also this week, doctors and experts on a panel created by the National Institutes of Health said they were recommending against using hydroxychloroquine in combination with azithromycin, an antibiotic also known as Z-Pak.

I suspect you’re right.
Pioneers are the ones with the arrows in their back. You don’t get in trouble for following established approved protocols, even if the patient dies.
And you risk reimbursement from insurance if you don’t.
And you have government agencies checking over your shoulder to see if you did everything right.
Just read the article and look at what these trials that failed are actually doing. READ THIS SENTENCE:
Wilkie said, It was done on a small number of veterans; sadly, those of whom were in the last stages of life, and the drug was given to them.
It’s the “Communist Party” virus. Whether purposely planned or not, it’s an almost perfect weapon to use against free-market capitalist societies. And the leftist democrats and allied media are pushing it for all they can get. They are relishing the prospects of a complete collapse of our economy and nation. A worldwide depression would lead to mass starvation, anarchy and revolution. A Global Green New Deal, aka global communism, here we come.
It is medical malpractice to give a deliberate under-dose to a patient, knowing that other protocols using HCQ with zinc + z pack can work successfully
Not really. we have doctors on this forum who are still not supplementing with Zinc sulfate. And yet, amazingly the half efficacy is reducing inflammation so the immune system can function better to destroy the virus. Just imagine how well the HCQ would help if the doctors took advantage of just adding zinc so the other have of efficacy can kick in!~
Oh, and another jab to the nose of the CDC and the WHO.
Not to late at all. When the studies are complete and the results positive as they surely will be, you can bet Trump will have the little Fascist Fauci make that point at one of the pressers being held daily.
“””The medical establishment is incredibly hidebound and amazingly resistant to common sense.”””
I would limit the ‘medical establishment’ to the Federal, State, and County Health Department bureaucrats, the University medical faculties and researchers, and the globalist big pharma executives.
The Doctors on the front line treating patients of whatever ails them are not hidebound or resistant.
Gee...why that’s exactly what one would expect from the very first reports on Hydrochloroquine which we received from the quarantined cruise ships months ago.
Gilead’s drug is remdesivir, Hydroxychloroquine is their competition. All of these reports saying HC is ineffective despite massive anecdotal reports are suspicious.
“It was done on a small number of veterans; sadly, those of whom were in the last stages of life, and the drug was given to them.
I guessed as much yesterday. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3837508/posts?page=10#10
Coordinated Mockingbird blast of the negative angle on all MSM formats.
Single appearance, not in print, of the truth, echoed only in new-media channels.
The new version of the retraction on page F95 Big Lie strategy.
And guess who heads the NIH? Hint, his last name starts with the letter 'F.'
Dirty, dirty.
THe study, as he said, was “observational”, and didn’t have controls for the type of patients given the drug, vs the ones who were not. As this clarifies, the drug was given to some really sick people as a last resort, and maybe it actually helped.
But nobody is going to accuse the people who put out all the news reports yesterday of KILLING PEOPLE< even though people who read their stories and decided not to take the drug when their doctor mentioned it, could well have died listening to their ignorant remarks.
I wonder if there is another antibiotic that would be better to use in combination? Or if just HCQ and zinc is enough.
I will beg my primary care for this combination at the first signs of illness (suspicious of covid).
VA does use this combination for treatment, study or no study. I’ll leave it at that.
[[The medical establishment is incredibly hidebound and amazingly resistant to common sense.]]
And sadly that is all because “Orange Man Bad”
If you have any heart issues, they can swap to doxycycline in place of Z-Pak.....and don’t forget the zinc.
“””doctors and experts on a panel created by the National Institutes of Health”””
And who exactly were those doctors and experts? Names and occupations are needed before anyone should believe data from anonymous sources.
