The WHO says on their site via a document:
"there is currently no evidence that wearing a mask (whether medical or other types) by healthy persons in the wider community setting, including universal community masking, can prevent them from infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19."
And that masks may cause:
self-contamination that can occur by touching and reusing contaminated mask
depending on type of mask used, potential breathing difficulties
false sense of security, leading to potentially less adherence to other preventive measures such as physical distancing and hand hygiene
diversion of mask supplies and consequent shortage of mask for health care workers
diversion of resources from effective public health measures, such as hand hygiene
WHO you gonna believe?
They are totally right on this one
If I count correctly, that photo shows fifteen people wearing masks and seven not wearing them.
Yup... And notice the look on their faces? They’re the ones who got the Corona Chinese Italian Covid-19 flu... Notice something else... No Italians... Another factor in their low death rate.
HA!
They’re tripping all over themselves. They have no clue. The Emperor truly has no clothes.
Masks worn by healthcare workers, prior to the DemPanic, were usually worn in surgery or when there was danger of contaminating a patient, to protect the patient and keep their exposed tissue sterile.
Wearing a mask reminds you to keep your hands off of your face, and that reduces transmission.
Oh, gee golly gosh: Don’t tell that to the Republican radio pundit hosts who are trumpeting this twidder thread by NPR hack Tim Mack, who twids about the San Francisco “anti-mask league” as though it’s conclusive that masks ended the Spanish Flu.

“The 1918/1919 protests against mask wearing and other public health measures have parallels to today
We learn through this episode that various groups of Americans have been pushing back against public health measures for more than a hundred years — and for similar reasons!!”
“In learning about the Anti-Mask League of 1919, we see many of the same human elements as today:
a portion of the population resistant to the measures; a business community crying out for relief; a second wave after an initial loosening; threats to public health officials”
Most telling of the propaganda: Media & government alike say “we shouldn’t compare coronavirus to the flu” yet they always look back to Spanish flu...the very epidemic for which there ALSO was no accurate assessment of the actual number of cases.
Masks did not end the 1918 Spanish Flu: Immunity ended it (and Spring). But Wuhan Coronavirus - I strongly suspect - will persist despite the change in season, with notable hot spots corresponding to a narrow temperature band encircling the planet...and hot spots appear to be moving north, just as I expected
Wow are you beyond deluded. Not even worth responding to that any further, aside to say that you are 100% wrong.
Nice respect for a fellow Freeper buy the way. Jim Rob would be proud of how well this community is treating each other nowadays - NOT.
BTW, did you bother to read the article I posted? Your posts sound just like the guy in the article that thought this is all “BS” - until he caught it and died.
Best of luck.
When I was doing hospital nursing, except for TB patients, we wore regular paper masks for isolation rooms, even for droplet or airborne pathogens, viral or bacterial.
Who knew that walking around with a filthy rag on your face could cause problems?
I heard one expert doctor saying that she wouldnt wear a mask because it is the fastest way to reinfect yourself. I didnt fully understand, but maybe if you have some infection in your exhalation, in the open air it disperses. Clinging to the inside of your mask, it would keep re-entering your lungs. Makes sense kinda.
I have a huge stack of clean bandannas that go right into washing machine and dryer. I also have rubber coated garden gloves that I use to go shopping, they also go right into washer and dryer. I used to see little kids riding in shopping carts leaning over with open mouths on the handles of the cart. I hope that stops...
he he he I was thinking today, I wear swim goggles, bandanna, rubber gloves. You can’t ID me by my face or prints LOL Good thing I am an innocent old granny.
Of course they work!!!!!!!!!!!
Mask is sign of intelligence. Surgeons wear them.
The WHO's Deceiver-General--A close look at Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
Good summary of the long article in post #4.
The virus is airborne but also can stay active for hours on surfaces you touch. So a mask, goggles, and gloves are all good. I take them off as soon as I get to my car. I put them in the washing machine as soon as I get home. The mask/bandanna and gloves. I have about 10 of each. Goggles I wear to remind me not to touch my eyes. Actually I almost died of flu a couple of years ago. I wish I had taken more care back then to avoid that illness. I was sick in bed for three months. It was after a cruise. Which is germy but subways and jets are worse.
Why?!?
Why?!?
