The coronavirus is hitting patients and staff at psychiatric facilities across the U.S., and caring for this population comes with unique challenges during a pandemic. Catherine Herridge reports on Western State Hospital in Washington, where there have been 34 confirmed cases. Some staff members are concerned the hospital isn't taking the virus seriously enough.

My daughter is a counselor at Western State and the stories she tells me of the "hospital's" casual response is shocking. Patients and staff are at risk.
Behavior Locked units around here (E. Tenn.) require COVID-19 testing on all new admits, no visitors, and worker surveillance/distancing requirements similar to hospitals
That whole hospital should either be shut down or enough funds available to run it properly. It has always been a mess. Remember the killers that have escaped?
Western was testing staff as they entered using a no-touch thermometer. Problem was, this was done outdoors and people were getting readings of 95 and less.
So now workers sign an affidavit daily that they do not have the virus or symptoms.
While they stand in line, closely, trying to avoid the weather’s elements.
Let all the crazy people out like they are doing with the criminals.
One flew East
One flew West
One flew over the Cuckoos nest
Just another problem with these State Hospitals that Inslee chooses to ignore. The state has been extremely lax in solving the countless problems that exist at these facilities.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense
Nuts love to smoke, and secondhand smoke carries the virus.
Many are criminals and those undergoing pre trial evaluation. Scary bunch.
Move the Psych patients to the State House and the Guv and Legislature to the Psych ward and watch the State THRIVE!
most nervous hospitals never take physical illness seriously. Many die in those type of hospitals because of physical illnesses.
Like an old anti-war themed film from the 1966 called "King of Hearts". The patients ran the town and every one was happy
I knew the brother of the one killer that walked away from the county fair in Spokane several years ago.
The guy I knew was as crazy as his killer brother, but not criminally insane. He ended up shooting himself after hosting a family Sunday afternoon BBQ. As everyone was sitting around talking he walked out into his backyard and blew his brains out.
Yeah, mental illness is a heavy burden. I worked security at the Fairgrounds when that happened. We were all so pissed off.
