Floridians didnt waste any time getting back to the sun and surf when beaches and parks were reopened in Jacksonville the same day the state clocked a record number of coronavirus cases.
Crowds were seen cheering and rushing the beach as police removed the barriers around 5 p.m. Friday, CNN reported.
Aerial photos show hundreds of people packing the sand to swim, stroll, surf and fish. Many were without masks.

Indeed some people fail to think more of the me me mob.
Wonder what the big deal of the beaches are, here in LA the beaches are not worth being on so much sewage spills over the years not worth being on.
bonus round dog crap all over the place.
Fake news alert
Yes a lot more cases yesterday but no one at CNN read the report disseminated publicly each day from the DOH
Specifically there were more tests done yesterday by 25% and there was only 9% positive.
If they listened to the briefing yesterday from the president if there is a 10% or less positive testing is appropriate. This demonstrates good news in terms of penetrated and will also drive the associated epidemiologically indicators down.
Doesn’t look “packed” to me. People are spaced appropriately, and people that are together, most likely live together anyway.
Even the compressed view of the telephoto lens doesn’t lend to the idea that the beach is packed. Lots of people, with lots of space between them. And a little bit of freedom in an otherwise panicked nation.
I'm just damned tired of it ... not near as much with the anti-social distancing (at this time) as with the masks except, (again "at this time") in limited, highly-congested, enclosed spaces (subways; buses, etc.)
Those silly temperature reports that say "it's 20 degrees, but feels like -5 degrees"?
"It only 3 feet between people, but they're outside in a breeze, so that equates to an 8 foot separation".
Did any food trucks show up?

The use of face masks on healthy people during the coronavirus pandemic has been a major point of contention and confusion among scientists and the public.
On Friday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that all Americans wear face masks when they are in public.
But new guidance from the World Health Organization released on Monday says healthy people don’t need to wear face masks and that doing so won’t provide added protection from the coronavirus.

Who to believe.
I live in Florida and support opening the beaches *carefully* (as their doing here) but you should know what you're talking about, before you post false info - and make yourself look like an idiot:
Florida university announces five spring breakers tested positive for coronavirus
Spring breakers from University of Tampa test positive for coronavirus
Map shows impact Florida Spring Break goers had in spreading coronavirus across U.S.
Ding..Ding...We have a winner!
Best summary of the past 6 weeks I have seen yet...
That is not a packed beach. That is a bunch of people that mostly appear to be well-spaced-out.
I’d feel safer in that group than I do at my weekly shopping trip to the grocery store. Some study showed that this thing doesn’t spread as much outside as inside anyway.
Although the reports were about people who went to indoor parties, not people on the beach.
We saw a study today, ultraviolet light destroys the virus. I have always said being out in the sun is best. We are outdoor people anyway but making a point of getting some sun on our skins, told hubby it helps to keep the covid away. Agree keeping cooped up in house is bad. Not only bad for the covid but bad for a persons state of mind, depression, alcoholism, drugs.
This disease is going to weed out the stupid, ignorant, and selfish—unfortunately, along with many others who were innocent.
They are probably also using a condom!
I guess fellatio is out of the question.
“Ah, so by looking back it what happened during Spring Break and the pandemic, it might not be a great idea to open beaches?”
The ONLY reason for “lockdowns” was to SLOW the spread temporarily, to buy TIME to prepare for the pandemic. (We OBVIOUSLY were unprepared!) We have done so! NOW it is time to go back to the new normal.
Not this BS. RIP that bandaid off! Let’s finish infecting the herd and get this over with NOW!
If “you” want to continue to live in a bubble (of FEAR) you can do so. Wear your mask AND gloves. Social distance. Avoid restaurants and crowds of 2 or more. Stay secluded in your home. Continue to wipe down your mail and packages with bleach (Walmart has bleach now). To be doubly safe, wear your mask and gloves while watching TV, talking on the phone, or when online. /s
The NY Post has been trending Fake News for the past couple of weeks. Don't know what's going on there.
Spring break beaches, even in the panhandle of Florida, get so packed that you cant hardly walk on the sand without stepping on someone. This even happens behind some restaurants, bars other popular spots on normal weekends.
God bless you!!
“The panic, fear and cowardice has disgusted me to the core.”
Me, too! Totally disgusted. And now that Trump has given the OK to lift some restrictions, it seems that some businesses and governors are going more hard-ass than before. I read that Walmart now is requiring customers to wear face masks, so I’ll call around and see if there are grocery stores with sane policies. The last thing I want is to walk around a store and feel that I’m in Shitholistan among the drones with dead eyes looking out from masks.
