Casino executives in Las Vegas, NV., are deliberating certain ways to keep customers and employees safe once the gambling mecca eventually opens to guests, according to a report on Wednesday.
Some of the informal talks have discussed safety measures that include putting masks and gloves on dealers, in addition to re-opening facilities nearby so employees and possibly tourists could get tested for COVID-19.
Las Vegas would start by re-opening small businesses around the area so locals could start working again to alleviate economic hardships, according to Bloomberg.
The casinos would operate with as few as one-third of its rooms available for booking, with its entrances curbed and the temperatures of guests checked by noninvasive methods, the paper said.
Other deliberations include having gamblers sit at least a chair apart at blackjack tables, as social distancing concerns have the potential to linger for an indefinite period of time.

Gloves on dealers?
You mask to protect others around you from your coughs, etc.
Your gloves are to protect you - but they can carry and spread germs and viruses just like hands.
If the dealer is the only one wearing gloves he/she might as well not use gloves and keep a bottle of hand sanitizer handy.

So now we make all workers wear gloves, goggles, and masks, continuously. That way when someone "feels sick" we don't have to quarentine the whole group.
OSHA has what's called their "General Duty" clause that obligates the employer to make best effort to prevent spread in the workplace if you want to stay open. Don't follow what's the recommendation of the day and they will close us down.
Our office closed weeks ago and now I get the impression they are trying to intimidate some workers into returning (no supervisors, of course). I warned supervisors that any employee who felt coerced could just call the state (NJ) hotline number - we aren’t supposed to be in there. Some supervisors (including myself) have returned briefly for essential tasks, but I wouldn’t ask my staff to come in.
I couldn’t imagine the legal/insurance liability of companies now.

What steps have you taken to ensure continued operation in the event of a pandemic? What steps are you requiring your key suppliers to prove to ensure uninterrupted deliveries of raw materials and key components or tooling?
Hi abb -
I was in Vegas the weekend before the shutdown. On Saturday morning (3/14) as I sat in a Caesar’s property, one of the relief dealers was overheard to say to her co-worker that the Wynn and Encore were shutting down due to an employee testing positive. On Sunday morning, the same relief dealer told the table that MGM (7 casinos) was shutting down immediately due to two employees being positive. I was told that the Caesar’s properties (9 casinos) had closed all restaurants except for the buffets.
On Monday when I was in the airport to fly home, I read that all Caesar’s properties would be shutting on Tuesday. Governor Sisolak announced the Nevada lockdown on Tuesday to be effective on Wednesday March 18.
Before I went I had a lengthy conversation with my oldest daughter. She was concerned about the person to person contact. I told her I was more concerned about the chips on the tables. They must be handled by tens of thousands of people every day. All tables had sanitizer, and I washed my hands 23, 25, and 27 times the days I was there. I was very tired of singing Happy Birthday, so I started singing alternative songs.
Reading the changes that they plan on making, I’m not sure it is enough. Maybe they should take the temperature of every patron multiple times during the days? I am not sure about the flights to get out there either. When I went one month ago there were 31 souls on a 141 seat plane. I owuld think there would be less now. Oh. I have a few rental houses in Vegas, so I go out frequently for business.

So after hundreds of thousands have been laid off work since mid-March, who is going to spend money to fly to Las Vegas in order to gamble more money away?
I’ve never been a gambler, and opposed it when they legalized casinos here in Louisiana. What little money I have, I worked too hard for to piss away in a slot machine. I always thought it was best to keep it isolated out in the desert and not have it all over the US.
But I have inlaws that think Vegas is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and have been several times. Different opinions is what makes a market, I guess.
Yeah, it’s important that we get that cesspool of vice and filth open as quickly as possible. Hookers, pimps, and gambling addicts gotta eat too, ya know.
You talking about Washington DC?
Anything about ending the use of recirculating air, so that healthy people aren’t forced to breathe the virons of sick people - or am I asking for too much?
Who wants to touch other people’s chips and cards? Ew.
I have plans to go for a week the end of May. One of my best friends lives in Vegas and I have a few other friends there as well. Won’t be staying in a hotel but I sure want to have a good time.
