Hi abb -
I was in Vegas the weekend before the shutdown. On Saturday morning (3/14) as I sat in a Caesar’s property, one of the relief dealers was overheard to say to her co-worker that the Wynn and Encore were shutting down due to an employee testing positive. On Sunday morning, the same relief dealer told the table that MGM (7 casinos) was shutting down immediately due to two employees being positive. I was told that the Caesar’s properties (9 casinos) had closed all restaurants except for the buffets.
On Monday when I was in the airport to fly home, I read that all Caesar’s properties would be shutting on Tuesday. Governor Sisolak announced the Nevada lockdown on Tuesday to be effective on Wednesday March 18.
Before I went I had a lengthy conversation with my oldest daughter. She was concerned about the person to person contact. I told her I was more concerned about the chips on the tables. They must be handled by tens of thousands of people every day. All tables had sanitizer, and I washed my hands 23, 25, and 27 times the days I was there. I was very tired of singing Happy Birthday, so I started singing alternative songs.
Reading the changes that they plan on making, I’m not sure it is enough. Maybe they should take the temperature of every patron multiple times during the days? I am not sure about the flights to get out there either. When I went one month ago there were 31 souls on a 141 seat plane. I owuld think there would be less now. Oh. I have a few rental houses in Vegas, so I go out frequently for business.

I have plans to go for a week the end of May. One of my best friends lives in Vegas and I have a few other friends there as well. Won’t be staying in a hotel but I sure want to have a good time.
