PA Votes To Reopen Businesses: How Phoenixville Area Reps Voted
Yahoo ^ | 04 15 2020 | Justin Heinze

Republicans in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a bill on Tuesday that would lift certain coronavirus mitigation measures in an effort to boost the state's economy, sparking intense blowback from Democrats who decried the health risks.

The state legislature passed the bill, Senate Bill 613, 108 to 94 on Tuesday. It was opposed by all Democrats in the chamber, as well as a few Republicans.

Phoenixville area State Rep. Melissa Shusterman (D-155), who voted no, issued a memo to Chester County's legislative delegation urging them to resist the bill.

"In order to keep the 'curve flat,' we must continues these drastic measures and only reopen when the time is right," the letter reads in part. "The only people qualified to decide when the time is right to lift the COVID-19 mitigation measures for Chester County is Chester County, working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Governor's Office, our municipalities, businesses, and you."

The bill would allow certain businesses to reopen so long as they followed the health advisories laid out for businesses by the CDC and the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Specifically, Republicans are targeting the reopening of construction businesses, auto dealers, and real estate offices. They argue that these businesses are open in other states and that Gov. Wolf's shutdown order of nonessential businesses, in place since mid-March, is too restrictive.

It will take a while for many to get back the non-essential money to spend at the non-essential stores.

Everybody just needs to open doors for business. It is arbitrary to proclaim one business essential and another non-essential. Let the Gov start arresting folks for trying to feed their families and see how that goes over with the people.

Well they control the legislature, both House & Senate, but the governor will veto, and the legislature does not have veto override numbers. So this will not fly as I see it unless Democrats join in with Republicans.

Doesn’t matter what the Legislature does, Tommie the Commie has already stated that he will veto the bill.

Plus he just released a raft of s#it onto business on restricting visitors, requiring EVERYONE to wear masks, and have personnel assigned to enforce social distancing.

POTUS wants to loosen up but this tinpot dictator wants to double down.

nah. Dems are voting to give everyone 2,000 bucks a month for 6 months.

If instituted by June, it’s ironic what month that ends in.

Or maybe it’s not ironic..

I would say it doesn’t have a chance but I also laughed when mitt romney first suggested each American get 1,000 dollars...

I’m not debating its merits...just saying I laughed.

It’s going to be a battle with the rats and rinos inch by inch. This is not even a reopening this is just a few businesses that other states kept open. If this is going to be the way it is no way the economy comes back it won’t be allowed to.

I’m more optimistic.

I think herd immunity is growing more than they know. That and the Israeli scientist that mapped the virus cycle means things will improve soon.

Tyrant governors will have states with mammoth budget woes while those like Abbott working on reopening sooner than alter will be heroes.

Democrats/lefties want zero risk. Otherwise, they are too scared to come out of their houses. We need to be cautious and prudent, of course. But people need to be totally responsible for their own health, and be considerate of those who might be vulnerable. Democrats/lefties have taken a 20-lb sledge hammer to a 2d finishing nail. Instead of looking at what they considered to be essential or non-essential, they should have asked themselves, “What businesses can be left open with minimal risk?”

It’s double what candidate Andrew Yang proposed in the Dem debates.

Everyone laughed him off the stage.

The only curve that is flattening is the one that measures the joy of the people. Back to life.

Flatten the curve, prolong the agony. Typical Democratic stock and trade, misery.

Now comes the time where we put all these Democrats - loser communist bastards all - on record for being against opening the economy

it will piss everybody off to no end Liberal or conservative. and it will benefit us greatly in November

Trump news this and is laid out very clearly in the last couple conferences

100% of Democrats will try to keep this shenanigan going to tank
the economy ; and 100% of Republicans will vote to re-open the economy

This will be super Duper fun to watch over the next couple weeks

That’s what happens when important people get to decide what other people are essential and which are not.

The guy turning the valve on to make the zyklon flow became essential while watch makers were not.

It remains amazing to me that “free” countrymen have allowed others to deem them non essential.

well it’s certainly looking like most Demorats aren’t interested in opening any of the states for business, before the election even!
