Some Republican senators are calling to quickly reopen parts of the economy shuttered by the coronavirus, but are warning that it won't be an instantaneous return to normal.
The goalpost setting comes as President Trump has appeared eager for restrictions to be scaled back soon, initially claiming that he had "total" authority to make the call, and named an economic task force to help come up with a strategy.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) warned that the country reopening would likely mirror how restrictions and stay-at-home orders went into place: By location and a piecemeal lifting of social distancing measures.
"I think what happens is we begin to open up the way we shut down, and that's where our governors and our mayors and our county judges look at local conditions," Cornyn told The Mark Davis Show.
"Now that hopefully we've hit the peak ... we can think about in each of these circumstances, in each of these states, what the right set of protocols are to begin to open our economy and let people go back to work," he added.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told KCBD, a Texas TV station, that it is "time for Texans to go back to work." But, he added, that the same guidelines did not make sense, for example, in New York City.
"It needs to be dependent upon the particular facts and circumstances in the particular region. ...It may be that when people go back to work that they wear a mask and gloves for some period of time to limit the spread of disease. We’ve seen that all the time," he added.

Call me AOC but I don’t understand this, what has changed here? I live in New York the most infected place on earth - thanks to these two numbskulls DeBlasio and Cuomo who think New York should be the sanctuary state of the entire world - but why would people think it’s safe now to go back to work when in fact there are more infected than ever?
I know they have that “essential/non-essential rule” going on, supermarkets are essential, jewelry stores are not so supermarkets stay open, jewelry stores close. Is this what they mean? All non-essential can open again? Well why not do that 2 weeks ago when there was less infected people? I don’t understand what has changed here. New york now has 214,000 infected people, 2 weeks ago we only had 900 and these stores get closed. But with quarter million infected the stores open? What?

It’s a shame people are so confused but President Trump hinted at it already saying more or less, one size does not fit all.
He also added he’s not going to be pushing Gov. SlowMo of NY to do anything.

While reopening the economy, distribute large amounts of HCQ amongst the population as an insurance against the recurrence of CV-19 thereby creating an even worse situation.
I am at little or no risk of getting COVID or a most I will get a very mild case. 90% of the population is at very low risk. The majority ate NOT cowering in fear. Fear Republic is not indicative of the USA in general.
