Sessions, who was the first and for a long time only senator to endorse Trump in 2016, left the Senate to become Trumps attorney general in February 2017. He had held the Senate seat for 20 years.
But his relationship with the president quickly turned sour after he recused himself from a decision to appoint a special counsel to investigate Trump after it was revealed that Sessions did not disclose a meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
Nevertheless, Sessions said Tuesday he doesnt have any regrets.
No, you dont regret things like that, Sessions said when asked by conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt about whether he regretted leaving the Senate to serve in the Trump administration.
I did what I thought was right. We did so many good things as attorney general. Im so proud of the team that we accomplished, the help we gave the president to pick judges, the defending of religious liberty, the reduction of regulations and the reversal of a surge in crime, Sessions said on The Hugh Hewitt Show.
Sessions said a law enforcement plan he helped implement as attorney general has now been reducing crime every year.

Folks in Alabama regret it, because they got stuck with Doug Jones as a result.
Unfortunately everyone except the democrats regretted it!
At least on your end Jeff....
Wouldn’t that be in large part Ditch’s fault?
He will when he loses to Tuberville.
You may be the only one besides all the Democrats, Jeff.
I really don’t understand him.
This from the man the recused himself allowing the Russian Hoax to proceed.
He is lying.
I regret it, even if he doesn’t.
Conservative?
conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hewitt is a water carrier for the Bush League Republicans, he is NOT conservative.
In the senate he sounded like a lion.
As attorney general he was a pussy cat.
When Trump named him AG he looked like a deer frozen by headlights.
I don’t think the word regret captures my full emotion.
+.
How? If you’re talking about McConnell he’s in the Senate. Impeachment starts with the House. When we lost the House impeachment was completely predictable. You need a simple majority. McConnell did his job when the impeachment trial came to the Senate. Sessions recusal was all Sessions doing! Sessions was AG he had a job to do and refused to do it.
The regret is all ours.
I wish FR was a NO SESSIONS ZONE!
Sessions did an outstanding job as AG on immigration.
But he whiffed on the coup.
Didn’t know what was really happening - didn’t understand the viciousness of the plot against the President.
