The Gillespie County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of a fatal shooting and home invasion early Saturday morning. Deputies responded to the residence on the 15000 block of Ranch Road 965 around 12:45 a.m. after the caller reported an intruder had been shot by a person inside the home.
Officials said the homeowner, 73-year-old Curtis Roys, was asleep when he heard a loud banging noise outside. He then discovered a young man on his back patio who, when confronted, pushed his way inside through the patio door and began to assault Roys with a blunt object. Reportedly, he then put Roys into a chokehold, causing him to lose consciousness.
Deputies said Roys' fiancée, 65-year-old Melody Lumpkin, pled several times for the man to stop assaulting him, but the man did not comply. She then retrieved a handgun from the bedroom and fired a warning shot, but deputies said the alleged intruder continued his assault. When she noticed Roys was not moving, Lumpkin then reportedly fired another shot, striking the man in the head. When Roys regained consciousness, officials said they then called 911.

Head shots for just in case....
Sounds like a hell of a keeper woman!
alleged home owner
A little good news in a sea of bad
Cleto Neri Solorzano, 19
Wondering why it was important to put “19” in the headline. Is that really relevant?
It would be almost fun to see a story about an alleged homeowner who was allegedly 73 and who allegedly been previously employed as an truck driver who was allegedly beaten by an alleged home intruder.
No pics of the perp? hmmm....
OMG! She shot a ‘teen’! His death will be included in the “children killed by guns stats”.
Possibly a SOB? (Son of Barack)
Ah. A local boy.
Boy must have been so drugged out that he forgot he was in Texas. Woman needs better reflexes, however.
I call dibs on his $1,200.00 stimulus check.
yep, poor criminal thug was just a teen
“dibs on his $1,200.00 stimulus check”
Baby mama will get it.
Wish you’d get it but most likely Babymama already reached for it.
Mistake 1: Curtis (and Melody) did not call 911 when the now deceased perpetrator was trying to break into the house.
Mistake 2: Curtis confronted a much younger man without his firearm.
Mistake 3: Melody fired a warning shot. (That could mean she believed the guy who broke into the house was not threatening death or serious bodily injury to Curtis or to her. The proper thing to do when someone is trying to choke the life out of someone is to dispatch that person with the first shot fired.)
