Mistake 1: Curtis (and Melody) did not call 911 when the now deceased perpetrator was trying to break into the house.
Mistake 2: Curtis confronted a much younger man without his firearm.
Mistake 3: Melody fired a warning shot. (That could mean she believed the guy who broke into the house was not threatening death or serious bodily injury to Curtis or to her. The proper thing to do when someone is trying to choke the life out of someone is to dispatch that person with the first shot fired.)

Probably from Julian Castro’s La Raza City (yeah I know he’s not mayor there anymore). He did nearly irreversible damage to San Antonio, one of the actions being hiring Bill McManus as police chief. McManus was previously chief of Minneapolis PD, one of the most useless police departments in the US.

My guess is that Cleto was hopped up to the gills on drugs as is the usual for home invaders these days. And violence is often the result when confronted.
If this was in Virginia, the DemocRAT governor would be looking to take away their gun to leave them defenseless against a followup event.
