That’s what I read. Frankly, I don’t see what the big deal is. Facui will be asked about this at the next presser. Were I Trump, I’d have no problem letting him answer. Fauci will walk it back, and he left himself plenty of room to do so.
Fauci is on the record in the popular media, and in at least one med journal, that this isn’t that much more than a bad flu. Besides, the dems were urging people not social distance thru early March.

Fauci got pushed very hard by Jesse Waters last night on “Water’s World” and probably was in a very defensive mood this morning when he said that.
Of course there was pushback. There are rumors Navarro about took his head off in a meeting.
And they all stated so early on because this was a new virus and they were uncertain if the measures would work or make a difference in the impact of this virus on the public and the health systems.
People were still going out and about into mid-march... and the first of march New York City etc. was already on fire after spreading in Feb. while Cumo and Dibasio sat on their hands.
What we've seen is exactly what a pandemic does, spread and infect.....and this one did so at great speed and continues to....without a solid treatment nor vaccine making anyone a target.
I personally think how this has been handled was the best possible way to approach the beast with all considered....otherwise what we'd be facing would have certainly crashed our healthcare systems, affected business and industry, and caskets would be lined up at every hospital. We didn't see the crash on our healthcare system because people were sent home and quarantined, monotored at home rather than hosptialized except for those having difficulties or serious.
