Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy are pushing back against Democratic demands to include issues unrelated to coronavirus relief for small businesses in an expansion of the loan program.
Politico:
Republicans reject Democrats reckless threat to continue blocking job-saving funding unless we renegotiate unrelated programs which are not in similar peril, McConnell (R-Ky.) and McCarthy (R-Calif.) said in a joint statement.
The $2 trillion virus relief bill contained a $350 billion fund for small business loans. That program has proven to be overwhelmingly popular and is in danger of running out of cash in a few days. McConnell brought a bill to the Senate floor that would have augmented that fund by $250 billion.
But Democrats blocked the measure, insisting that some of the money should go to local governments and hospitals. McConnell is insisting on a "clean" bill for small business relief and is promising Democrats he will take those other issues up in the next virus relief bill.
The two Republican leaders reiterated Saturday that they will only support an increase in funding for the small business program and warned it has already used up about half of its funding in its first week. They said Democrats should wait for negotiations on a broader package in the coming weeks to address other issues.
This will not be Congresss last word on COVID-19, but this crucial program needs funding now, McConnell and McCarthy said. American workers cannot be used as political hostages.

HA!
Just curious of how honestly the 350 billion that is gone already was spent.
There are organized crime outfits that live for this kind of thing.
Hope they’re vetting well
I know how some of it is being spent. On TV of Nanzi Jezebel Pelosi patting herself on her back about her outstanding leadership during the coronavirus epidemic.
We know a couple small business owners (bars/lounges) and they are NOT having a good time trying to get any money from the banks. Nearly impossible to even get heard. Guess this may not go well for some folks despite good intentions.
Well this seems good. The rats have never had this much leverage and they are pushing it right to the line. They blocked helping small business so they could ram through their BS and MSM covers for them. I saw post yesterday where one by one the nets went from the truth to changing their headline within a period of twenty minutes. The DNC/MSM knows damn well if Trump opens it up the economy will rebound and then it’s game over unless they can gin up enough hysteria to keep it shut through May.

I Pray that it has gone and will continue to go to the poor souls who need it.
Having grown up around certain elements, I know they salivate at these types of things.
That was more than 20 years ago.
I pray things have changed
And I don’t want to HATE anyone on this glorious of Days, so I will wait till tomorrow on pelosi.
My friend owns almost a dozen restaurants and I hope this is helping him some.
Though he has other interests that should keep him afloat.
We would not be going thru this if we hade the house, TAKE BACK THE HOUSE
I applied on March 31 with the SBA for the EIDL. Haven’t heard a word from them. I won’t apply for the PPP since we have no employees, we contract everything out, and I don’t think I should have to take out a loan for something the government caused. We’re in wait mode. We can’t reopen our biz until venues start reopening.
Democrat Pet Projects
1. Votes
2. Kickbacks =Freezer money
3. Bribers go on blackmail list
What we need is a full session of Congress to discuss this. While that is happening, a freak one-in-a-Billion lightning strike hits the Capitol building and causes it to implode, reducing it and its inhabitants to a small pile of ash. Maybe then we can work toward correcting this country.

My credit union is offering assistance to small business using the federal funding. Maybe SB’s should look to CU’s instead of banks...
Your prayers have been answered. Things have changed.
They got worse.
Yeah one has to be very specific with prayers sometimes :(
The banks ran out of PPP funds in the first few days. That is why Trump and McConnell are talking about adding more funds.
