The World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Saturday that it was looking into reports of some Covid-19 patients testing positive again after initially testing negative for the disease while being considered for discharge.
South Korean officials on Friday reported 91 patients thought cleared of the new coronavirus had tested positive again. Jeong Eun-kyeong, director of the Korea centres for disease control and prevention, told a briefing that the virus may have been reactivated rather than the patients being re-infected.
The Geneva-based WHO, asked about the report from Seoul, told Reuters in a brief statement: we are aware of these reports of individuals who have tested negative for Covid-19 using PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing and then after some days testing positive again.
We are closely liaising with our clinical experts and working hard to get more information on those individual cases. It is important to make sure that when samples are collected for testing on suspected patients, procedures are followed properly, it said.
According to the WHOs guidelines on clinical management, a patient can be discharged from hospital after two consecutive negative results at least 24 hours apart.
Based on current studies, there is a period of about two weeks between the onset of symptoms and clinical recovery of patients with mild Covid-19 disease, the agency said.
We are aware that some patients are PCR positive after they clinically recover, but we need systematic collection of samples from recovered patients to better understand how long they shed live virus, it said.

Use the meds to kill it. Sell kill is not enough.
reactivated = biphasic
I wonder if this is the WHO trying to get guilt money from nations after it’s corruption and incompetence was exposed big time.
Do those who test “positive” again show any symptoms?
Don’t think so, there were earlier reports of this happening.
There were earlier reports of that, yes.
The flubros promptly dismissed them. After all, it’s just the flu, bro. -rolleyes-
Why would you believe ANYTHING the WHO says?
(Yawn)
People are trying stretch this hoax out until the election. This is so transparent!
The Left have to be absolutely devastated that the actual death rates from this bug are dramatically lower than all of the bull sh*t projections they tried selling us.
This is a scam for the weak minded and hysterical.
As I understand it they are having a problem with false negatives. Might the existing ambiguity in the testing be a contributing factor?
WHO trying to keep the fear up.
I don’t think anyone is saying, “It’s just the flu”.
It is a type of flu and it is, like the flu, not that deadly, especially if you are old and already have one foot in the grave.
To me, it is the lion and we are Gazelles. Like heart disease, Cancer, etc. It culls the herd.
And I say that as an “at risk” person myself. This guy nails it:

It’s a nothingburger. The one thing I’ve learned is something I already knew: Stay out of NY and NJ.
Testing stats are meaningless unless EVERYONE has been tested. They haven’t. All I see is the number of deaths per million people.
I’m not the least bit afraid of this virus.
- Low quality tests
- The WHO are corrupt, stupid ChiCom stooges.
Occams Razor
Looked it up and it appears that Night Soil used in parts of S Korea.
Are these the people who are being infected again?
Based on the New New New models the chances that any particular American will die from it are .00017%.
Commie China sold bad test kits .
Who a China went along.
this is media bs to instill panic .
I am more scared of the lying Chinese owned media than any virus .
I have a business associate who is recovering from something that has all the attributes of COVID-19 ... and yet he tested negative.
I’ll bet they are. They have to find a new tool to raise the hysteria the original is fading.
Not exactly a nothing-burger if the effects can be cumulative, leading to the early deaths of young medical professionals. We are already looking at a doctor shortage, we dont need to make it worse.
