What if the White House, EPA, Congress, UN, EU and IPCC acknowledged that climate models are only as good and as accurate as the assumptions built into them? What if – as the months and years went by and we got more real-world temperature, sea level and extreme weather data – we used that information to honestly refine the models? Would the assumptions and therefore the forecasts change dramatically?
What if we use real science to help us understand Earth’s changing climate and weather? And base energy and other policies on real science that honestly examines manmade and natural influences on climate?
Many climate modelers claim we face existential manmade climate cataclysms caused by our use of fossil fuels. They use models to justify calls to banish fossil fuels that provide 80% of US and global energy; close down countless industries, companies and jobs; totally upend our economy; give trillions of dollars in subsidies to fossil fuel replacement companies; and drastically curtail our travel and lifestyles.

The author is saying Fauci and Birx are honestly explaining the limitations of the corona virus models. That has been sorely missing from the Climate Change debate for 30 years. The problem for climate change is, if there was a honest discussion of the problem with climate change models, there would be no climate change to exploit. Al Gore would not profit from trading carbon credits, no imminent end of world to justify draconian control over how to flush toilets.
Well, so far all their guesstimates have been spot on. Except when they aren’t.
No one knows what the temperature of the earth is supposed to be at any point and at any place on earth at any future point in time. It’s an impossibility and an absurdity.
Why would anyone trust a couple of idiots?
Theories explain observations (facts) and laws of science. What is missing for global warming to be a theory are facts and laws of weather/climate. It is more like a dream that computer techies programmed into a “model”. It appears they programmed the model to tell them what they wanted to hear.
One big no-no when extracting information from a graph is to extend the graph beyond the region where data are available. Many straight-line graphs bend when extrapolated beyond the data region.
That “90% of scientists support global warming” is a fraud. It doesn’t matter how many scientists vote for something, it matters whether the data supports the laws and theories.
The correct approach is to demand, “Show me the DATA!”
“But, you can’t/don’t understand the data.”
“In a country of 300,000,000+ people, I am confident that I can find at least one person who understands the data and is able to explain it in such a way that I will understand it.”
Global warming is a political artifact that supporters know will lead them to be in virtual, if not literal, total control of all aspects of our life. We know it is political because the science-types will not release the data so other science-types can analyze it.
*IF* the *model* used by the coronavirus team is a good accurate model, then the team needs to tell the people why their predictions changed from 2 million-plus, to 200,000 to 60,000. Each time they acted like this was the final answers. It would have been better if they had been tentative. They either changed the computer program or put in newer, more accurate data.
Never believe proclamations that depend on the number of scientists supporting it nor computer models that predict the future of very very complicated matters for which they have only primitive data and laws.
Additionally, once suspicions arise,(think: Al Gore’s hockey stick), never ever believe another pronouncement that is similar to the political narrative.

It is a hypothesis because it is unproven. They say it is proven and therefore treat it as a theory. The scientific method matters not to them because they say even the mere threat of their theory is so grave that we must act.
The politicization of science has created a mess! The selective choosing of data, manipulation of data, and exclusion of other data (solar activity) means the entire narrative is built on a lie.
Fauci and his world suffers from the same problems as stated above and you are correct in your conclusion if it were applied equally.

But the model was only a estimate, a guess so to speak, something to work with. And we used the model the allocate resources. So far we have more resources then needed, which is a good problem to have.

If you even want to draw a parallel, they've gone from 2 million deaths to 60K. That means liberals, just as an exercise, can reduce their predictions to 3% of their models. But of course their models are complete propaganda crap to begin with.

Thanks for the precision, I used the word “theory” in layman’s terms so I stand corrected. Going back to high school as I remember ‘hypothesis’ as the educated guess. In the scientific lexicon “theory” means something is proven.
They can never prove anthropogenic global warming, so in scientific terms it is an educated guess, and therefore unqualified to set policy.
