Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the White House Coronavirus Task Force is considering issuing certificates of immunity to Americans who have contracted and recovered from the Wuhan coronavirus.
He made it clear that testing for the virus and anti-body testing will be done on parallel tracks. This will allow health care workers to know who is actively fighting the virus versus who was asymptomatic.
"One does not essentially rule out the other," Fauci explained. "We still rely heavily and appropriately on the test to show that someone is, in fact, infected, whereas the anti-body test says that you were infected and if you're feeling well, you're very likely recovered."
The NIAID head said it's very likely that a large portion of the population has been infected and recovered but never knew they had the Wuhan coronavirus because they were asymptomatic.
According to Fauci, anti-body testing will be ramped up over the next week as President Donald Trump looks to reopen the economy and get Americans back to work.
"Can you imagine a time where Americans carry a certificate of immunity?" CNN's Alisyn Camerota asked.
"You know, that's possible," he said. “It’s one of those things that we talk about when we want to make sure that we know who the vulnerable people are and not. This is something that’s being discussed, I think it might actually have some merit under certain circumstances."
Other countries, like Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, have implemented immunity certifications, POLITICO reported.
As of Friday, the United States has 459,165 Wuhan coronavirus cases and 16,570 deaths.

While in the military, I had a record of all my vaccinations maintained on a folder yellow form that reflected all my shots, vaccinations and such.
Since retirement I’ve maintained that yellow document.
If eventually they have a vaccination then I will enter the date received and keep my record updated. Don’t like this nonsense for citizens must have a ID card to prove they have the vaccination.
The appropriate response to “May I see your Certificate of Immunity?” would be “Go F yourself.”

Maybe an ID card for everyone could include citizenship and a photo to also be used as voter ID.
Dr Fauci reminds me of and is taking the US the direction of Marshall Applewhite of Heaven’s Gate.
He doesn't define "a large portion" and the nice thing about being an academic bureaucrat is that he or she can define it long after the fact.
As I read the Hopkins website, there have been 501,615 confirmed coronavirus cases in the US. That's 0.15% of the US population of roughly 330 million people. 20 times that number could be considered "large". And that number would be 3.0%.
I believe (as a not-academic, not-infectious disease, not-expert, not working for the US government) that natural/innate immunity will protect most people who are exposed to almost any virus, and they will never develop antibodies or become ill.
Fauci and Birx are painting Trump into a corner that I personally do not think Trump has yet seen or detected, imho. But yeah, to me, something not smelling right.

Just go down to where the illegals get their drivers licenses and SS cards. I’m sure they will figure out how to print up an immunity card just a few hours after the first ones are issued.
So they release something to scare the h3ll out of us, then offer to test us for the thing we hope to have (antibodies, immunity)? And if we are ‘good’ boys and girls we can participate in their society?
