Detroit?
I'd check to see if a disproportionate percentage of infections are there, before blaming the whole state.
But, that's just a comment on this infection; as to how a climbing clod like Whitmer comes to power, I have no idea.
The same is true of Washington state. One mass infection at one senior care facility in one suburb of Seattle earned us the notoriety of an epicenter of disease for weeks.
The contagion is a disease of urban squalor.
For those thinking WTF, here is the deal. What happens in the state of Mi will be determined by Detroit, Half WHits base. In Detroit the last few weeks has been party time. With crowds of people partying at older peoples places because they have houses. Thats why we can no longer drive between houses even if its from your farm to your brothers and there isnt a virus case within 50 miles. Any restrictions on the city will applied everywhere in the state because it would be racist to do it any other way. Got it?
Almost ALL of them are down there!
But people in the west, northern-lower, and the UP have to adhere to these stupid edicts?
re: “What’s with Michigan anyways?”
Overcast ... (clouds, in a word. No sunshine a good part of the year.)
“It was the first Friday of March, and everyone among the tight circle of active and retired sheriffs officers who had been gathering annually for 20 years knew exactly where to be: Berts, a legendary Detroit hangout.”
Seems they didn’t believe there was a crisis. Ohio had declared a Shut Down on the same day (3/6/20)
There are three counties in Michigan that have 75%-80% of the cases: Wayne, Oakland and Macomb. All Detroit area. We are just lucky we still have a Republican legislature that has reigned her in a bit. Else we would be shut down through June.
I live on the westside of the state. A friend who is an ER nurse says they have been twiddling their thumbs, not busy at all. She said if they can get through today, they think they will be home free.
We have “Witch-mer” because we did not run a strong GOP candidate last year and the fallout from the lying media’s successful pinning of the Flint water crises on Snyder (previous Governor). That and having pot on the ballot.
Even worse, is the Attorney General elected at the same time. She is a piece of work that makes “Witchmer” look like she is not that bad.
Too bad, because Michigan was doing pretty well before all this.
Its virtually all Detroit, 97% in the 3-County area
