I wonder what percentage of female cops are Lesbians?

Asking for a friend.

I know a guy who did Pittsburgh to Denver in an MG Spitfire.

No such thing as an "MG Spitfre."

There were MGs and Triumph (a separate company) made the Spitfire.

I used to drive a Spitfire in the 80's. Awesome little car and more legroom than you would expect.

I guess so. Posted something to get us off of Coronavirus discussions. lolol. Which is faster at crossing the nation? The Cannonball run car, or Coronavirus (Wuhanic Plague)?

Considering normally it would take 4 hrs to drive thru LA, this record will probably stand for awhile.

In 1979 I was on I-5 in Central Kalifornia at 2am on a Saturday morning doing 90 mph. The road was mostly empty. I saw lights in my morror and backed off to 75 mph. About then a Lambo went by me in a blur. Had to be going 150. About 7 minutes later a CHP cruiser went by with the lights on and the engine screaming, not doing 150. Good times.

Drove alongside fancy cars driving into Florida back from an Easter trip to my relatives. Didn’t figure it out until we got home that they were in the Gumball Rally.

If I remember correctly, the Cannonball Run is east to west pre-Easter and Gumball Rally is west to east post-Easter.

When they kicked it off again in 82’ we went to Lock Stock and Barrel in Darien CT to watch the kick off as one of my buds was friends w/ one of the participants. Paul Newman was seen going in but kept a low key, ditto that Diana Ross.

The late Brock Yates was the MC & I think an entrant and told the joke about Kamikaze Pilots w/ the punch line being "are you ****ing crazy!" standing in front of me was a fellow 20 something with a Kamikaze bandanna on his head... LOL!

That run was at 55mph and was to see if you could reach the checkpoint at a time that was set so you + or - of that number took you away from your score.

During a break time, (yes they had them) We met up with the racer we knew on the Mass Pike at a Ho-Jo's, as they had a friend with them that I think was his co-driver-pilot, a one Parnelli Jones. I got to meet him, real nice guy.

As an average there were probably stretches where they ran much faster. Never let a crisis go to waste!

Holy cow, thanks for that - hadn't had my coffee yet when I read the words MG Spitfire and wondered what Philip K Dick alternate universe I might've woken up in this morning 😄

Relative of mine said the cast of oddballs shown in Cannonball Run wasn't too far off from the real ones who did it, back in the day.

Kudos to the team that ran this one. What a perfect time to do it.

140 mph on the Autobahn, yeehah. That was a blast. And as someone already posted, seeing the flashing lights in the rearview mirror was interesting.

My best run was in the summer of 1990 from Pittsburgh to San Francisco in two days and 13 hours, solo.

“Not really valid since the roads have far less traffic.”

don’t nitpick.

New York to L.A. in 26 hours and 38 minutes is way cool!
That’s about Geezer time in an Eldorado driving NYC to Naples.

In an A8, probably quite comfy too.

Wonder how long it would take in a Prius? /s

Yeah, I just looked it up: a stock A8 tops out at 166.

135 through most of Kansas.

Lots of mule deer across that state and lots of road kill hit by semis......

A lot of those cops though would rather not make a traffic stop in case the driver has a fever and a bad cough.
