Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Thursday endorsed an optimistic prediction that the U.S. economy might reopen in May, even as more Americans die from Covid-19 and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warned against trying to return to normal too quickly.
During an appearance on CNBC, host Jim Cramer asked Mnuchin if he believed there was a possibility “if the doctors let us, that we could be open for business in the month of May.”
“I do, Jim,” Mnuchin said.
The comments from the Trump administration’s top economic official come as other White House advisers press for commerce to resume quickly — an aim that appears to contradict more cautious messages coming from medical experts. Businesses across the country have closed their doors over the past month as the U.S. tried to slow the spread of the pandemic.
Mnuchin appeared on CNBC to tout a dramatic business lending program the Federal Reserve announced today to help boost the economy.

I looked up “rolling basis” because I don’t know what the fornicate it means. Ok, it’s one fraction of the entire group at a time. I take it to mean: “Periodically opening up one part of the whole at a set interval, until the whole group is open. “
I hate it when someone uses an expression that I don’t understand.
So what will be first? massage parlors and hair salons? Car repair shops? Sandwich shops? At that rate we’ll all be poor and dead (not necessarily in that order) by the end of 2020.
Either they start opening or we will. We can see the infections and deaths, and we can judge when it’s stupid to keep things shut. Also knowing HCQ is out there we know if we do get a virulent case we won’t be dying.

Anyone who bought into the premise of this shutdown (and Trump is one of them) has no logical exit from the shutdown. Once you agree it is all about saving lives, at any cost, you cannot then decide its ok if a few people die. Whether Trump “causes” the death of 160,000 or just 1 it will prove Trump placed money over lives.
This virus is going to kill people until it burns itself out due to mass immunity. Flattening the curve just makes it broader and longer line.
People dying from Corona, or dying in combination of Corona and a fatal disease, or dying because Corona is in the air so all deaths are Corona, will trump the theoretical deaths from a failed economy and the destruction of our liberties. For the Prog the failed economy and tyranny is a feature of Corona.
Having agreed to Prog’s premise the debate is lost.
Its going to have to roll right over Fauci and Birx first.
They’ll have us distancing until Christmas or longer.

Never a fan personally of Kudlow, but I think his advice is spot in. I hope Trump ignores Fauci and follows Kudlow’s advice. You guys in America will start working again, while our idiots in Canada will continue to have us shut down.
Opening things on a rolling basis sounds like a disaster in the making. Open the whole thing up or will will end up shutdown again.
