'Just Stop’ – Ilhan Omar Scolds Progressives Who ‘Plan to Sit Election Out or Vote for Trump’

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Wednesday scolded progressives who may “plan to sit this election out or vote for Trump.” She issued her warning after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) announced the suspension of his presidential bid, begging them to remain active and “fight like hell” to oust President Trump and “end the rise of fascism in this country.”

Sanders formally ended his year-long campaign on Wednesday, conceding that the path to the nomination simply is not feasible. He tried to encourage supporters, reminding them of their greater movement and contending that they are “winning the ideological battle.”

Omar, one of the three “Squad” members who endorsed the Vermont socialist, also sent a message to Sanders supporters amid the movement’s “setback” and urged them to remain active.

“We always knew it would not happen overnight. But I know our cause is just. And I am more committed than ever to fighting for somebody I don’t know,” she said as part of a lengthy Twitter thread, sending a pointed message to those who may be planning to sit out the election or vote for Trump instead of Joe Biden (D), the party’s presumptive nominee.

“For those of you who plan to sit this election out or vote for Trump, just stop,” she said. “The livelihoods of millions of marginalized people are at stake.”

“We must all fight like hell to get Donald Trump out of the White House and end the rise of fascism in this country,” she added:

Is that from when he worked for a newspaper during the first world war?

I’m ok either way. If the progressives stay home or if they vote for Donald. Win/Win.

Bernie Sanders Calls Ilhan Omar ‘one of the greatest people I know’

Sen. Bernie Sanders campaigned with Rep. Ilhan Omar in Virginia on Saturday, where the presidential candidate called the controversial congresswoman “one of the greatest people I know,” Patch reported.

The two of them will also be campaigning together in Minnesota on Monday night.

Virginia is one of the 15 states and territories that will be voting on Super Tuesday, as are Sanders and Omar’s respective home states of Vermont and Minnesota. Speaking at the rally in Springfield, Va., Omar predicted a Super Tuesday victory. “We are going to win because we are building a movement that is multiracial, multi-generational, multi-ethnic, multi-religious,” she said.

After her fulsome introduction of him, Sanders joked, “I don’t know what I can say that Ilhan hasn’t already said. So I’m going home.”

Omar was accused of anti-Semitism last February after she claimed that the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC paid politicians to be pro-Israel (AIPAC does not donate to candidates but its members do). Sanders defended her during a Fox News town hall two months later, saying that she wasn’t anti-Semitic but had to do a “better job in speaking to the Jewish community.”

Give the Bernie Bros credit - their reaction was the same last time when it was Hillary.

I don’t agree with them about much of anything politically, but I respect their consistency and the fact that they can recognize BS and recognize that party politics are owned by the establishment - not the voters.

Speaking of Omar and given the understandable hijacking of the news cycles in the last month..... what is happening with her situation? Does anyone have an update?

“For those of you who plan to sit this election out or vote for Trump, just stop,” she said. “The livelihoods of millions of marginalized people are at stake.”

And the livelihoods of the remaining 100s of millions of non-marginalized citizens should just what? Shut up and take a seat at the back of the bus?

That’s a fascinating article. Not just for what it states - which most of us have heard, but because of who is stating these things, and her background. Thank you for posting.

Did she encourage people “not to loose their heads over this?”

There is a strong populist intersection between Bernie and Trump.

Yes, there is, and he's likely to be getting votes from people who would rather be boiled in oil than admit they did it.

That’s when I said to myself: “Rebecca, now is the time to pull the emergency brake, simply because as a women’s rights advocate you bear collective responsibility as a woman.”

Thanks for the link. Interesting story. Queen Becky, there is only individual responsibility. Have a slice.

No one seems to be taught this in school.

She might not be able to continue her plans for fraud and jihad if too many liberals don’t go to the polls. Where will she and her caliphate be then?

Notice they always use “fascist” instead of “Nazi”. There’s a reason for that.

I wouldn't be surprised to see those words of a true fascist included in many college text books. They always start off with the "peoples labor" (socialist benefit) and then morph into totalitarianism.

I tried explaining to friend recently that socialism has caused more misery than what she call, "free failed enterprise system" She turned it around to Trump is a fascist. Needless to say, I no longer talk to her. There is NO reasoning with these people, even with countless examples of the success of capitalism the world over.

I keep wondering where Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Michael More are nowadays since they promoted Chavez in Venezuela now that's it is a shithole. Crickets!
