Mounds of harvested zucchini and yellow squash ripened and then rotted in the hot Florida sun. Juicy tomatoes were left to wither unpicked in farmers' fields.
Thousands of acres of fruits and vegetables grown in Florida are being plowed over or left to rot because farmers cant sell to restaurants, theme parks or schools nationwide that have closed because of the coronavirus.

Not seeing the zucchini and squash as much of a loss. :P
Inject that malaria drug into them
That would just be a waste of hydroxychloroquine. :P Down with zucchini! :P
I would have thought that people would buy the foods they want from their local grocery store if they were not buying from restaurants. But then I’m a sensible person.
Is their point that restaurants waste more of the food they buy, and that food is now being wasted elsewhere because restaurants are buying less? Is their point that Americans normally overeat and we’re overeating less so that food is being wasted? Is their point that Orange Man Bad, so we’re blaming the Orange Man for wasted squash because some squash is orange, and somehow that is connected to the orange Coronavirus?
I think these are farms that send most of their stuff to local restaurants and have accounts with them. The large grocery stores have accounts with mega farms probably.
Maybe get rid of all of the rules and stuff for setting up road-side stands so these smaller farms can sell directly to the public that can’t find the stuff in the grocery stores?
I’m guessing the large grocery chains’ lawyers would prevent them from dealing with a quick deal with the local farmer pulling up his pick-up truck full of squash to the loading dock.
Let me call Dr. Sugar, I’m sure this calls for another $1trillion bailout.
You anti-zucchinite!!
I wouldn’t eat the stuff if it was drowned in chocolate fudge
LOL
Where’s the 2nd stimulus check!!
I already have it spent.
And loan sharks don’t like to hear no for an answer.
I actually read at multiple sites that there will be another “package” and our deficit for the year will be between 3.5 and 5 trillion.
We’re gonna run out of paper :)
lol
I was supposed to be on the lookout for paper towels for a gal pal of mine
I went to shoprite and there were thousands of rolls at the entrance and I forgot :)
So of course I had to lie.
But other big mouths blabbed on me
yes now its time to find out whom you can trust
If things got/get worse, that number would go down quickly

I like the little yellow squash sliced thin and fried in butter with onion rings.
They grow enough vegetables for “X” and the market turns into “X - Y”. Pretty simple math actually.
They are selling direct to consumers, but few people are willing to go to the markets. Even if all the locals stocked up, it would hardy make a dentthese farms are run for massive regional or national commerce and we locals couldnt eat it in a year. Thats not even considering how few people know how to can these days!
Truckloads of zucchinis? Sold to theme parks?
