I believe China unleashed this disease with 2 purposes.
Primary purpose was to shut down the protests inside China, put them all on lockdown and show the peasants who is the boss.
Secondary purpose was to counter Trump’s trade deal. The chinese sent a 3rd or 4th tier govt official to sign the deal. The deal will cost them millions, but it also caused Xi to look bad on the world stage. It was retaliation.
