(Mayor) Fischer: Drive-in, parking lot Easter services not allowed in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mayor Greg Fischer announced drive-in, parking lot Easter services are not allowed in Louisville due to the high number of coronavirus cases in Jefferson County.

Gov. Andy Beshear had left it up to local officials to decide.

At his daily briefing, Fischer said the decision was tough but it was not practical to let hundred of thousands of people leave their homes.

"I am reluctant to do that but I am at the same I am emphatic at doing that because I want to save the lives of people in our community," Fischer said.

The Dixie Valley Church of God planned to have a drive-in service in the parking lot. Pastor Steven Webb said he was looking forward to seeing his congregation's faces again but he understands the decision.

"Scripture tells us that God tells us that we should obey the authority that he has placed over us. And so for us it is no question that if the governor and the mayor has asked for us to do that then we should obey that," Webb said.

The church will now have its Easter Sunday service online.

These restrictions are simply illogical, and smack of authoritarianism.

How about a big FU to some of these statists? Massive rejection of the nanny state?

Keep the abortion services open but close the churches. Typical Big Government.

Wrong.

It's not illogical when the end result is control.

And it does not smack of authoritarianism, it IS authoritarianism.

If worshipers stay in their cars, they should be safe. I suspect that the real motive for banning these services is Christophobia.

"I am reluctant delighted to do that … because I want to save the lives of people in our community, love to have this dictatorial power" Fischer said.

A close aid said, off the record, that after this announcement Comrade Fischer went into the restroom near his private office and may have masturbated.

Civil disobedience should be the order of the day on Easter Sunday. And every other day where the restrictive orders are unconstitutional and unreasonable and improper.

We are fortunate to live in TN where the governor has not ordered churches by fiat to not meet. I wonder about those who cite “obey the laws of the land” when it comes to meeting as Christians. We are also told that we must obey God and not men when it comes to a conflict between God’s law and man’s. We have not stopped meeting and have no intention to. We are a small congregation and take all precautions. No one shakes hands. We stand away from one another. We spread out in the auditorium where no one is (except our personal family) is within 6 feet of anyone. Those who are especially at risk stay home and we understand that. We have communion but it has been prepared by one who takes precautions. The bread is served in individual cups as well as the fruit of the vine. One person serves communion and wears plastic glove. Everyone is requested to not touch the trays but pick up the individual cups and keep them. It is a special time to draw closer to each other and our God. We don’t know what the future holds but we trust God and have no plans to quit meeting.

What is going to happen if this goes on for 6 months are we all going to give up our constitutional and God given right to worship him because the government tells us to?

Mayor Dork is one of the most obnoxious liberals you’ll find.

He’s already gone on record stating that the disproportionate amount of cases among blacks are due to “social justice issues.”

Fischer is a complete assclown

It’s Louisville and it’s Greg Fischer.

That’s all you need to know.

Just another worthless progressive.

The Resurrection is Against the Law

An excerpt from Bill Wylie-Kellermann’s classic Seasons of Faith and Conscience (1991).

The sealing of the tomb is, I believe, notoriously misunderstood. I grew up with a Sunday School notion that to seal the tomb was a matter of hefting the big stone and cementing it tight. The seal, in my mind’s eye, was something like first-century caulking–puttying up the cracks to keep the stink in. Not so. This is a legal seal. Cords would be strung across the rock and anchored at each end with clay. To move the stone would break the seal and indicate tampering.

The event conspicuously echoes the story of Daniel sealed in the den of lions. “And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel” (Daniel 6:18). As there, this is a legal lock on the tomb door–not air tight, but politically tight. To move the stone and break the seal is a civil crime. The resurrection is against the law.

The seal is also a recurring theme in the book of Revelation. Remember the scroll of history sealed with seven seals? Only One is worthy to break them and look upon or unveil the truth: that One is the Lamb who was slain. The seal is a claim of ownership and authority. Its meaning in Revelation is at least that God in Christ reigns sovereign over all history and in all events.

Caesar, in Pilate, on the other hand, violently disputes the claim. He has set his seal of approval on Jesus’ death, and now he guarantees it with troops. Secured by security forces. When the seal is broken in the resurrection, it stands among the signs that the power of the powers (death in all its forms) has been broken. The dominion of political authority–especially inflated, aggressive–and imperial authority has been cut to the heart.
