Latino and black residents in New York City have higher mortality rates from coronavirus, according to preliminary numbers released by the city on Wednesday morning.
The early data shows that of those who have died from coronavirus in the city, 34 percent were Latino residents, while 28 percent were blacks.
Black New Yorkers have the highest crude death rate: 23.1 out of 100,000 people. Latino New Yorkers have the second highest reported death rate, 21.3 out of 100,000. But adjusted for age, the death toll is slightly higher for Latinos, who have a death rate of 22.8 versus 19.8.
The released data represents only 63 percent of reported deaths in New York City because according to the city, the vast majority of cases are reported by labs and often did not have race or ethnicity data.
Both rates for blacks and Latinos are significantly higher than of whites, which have a crude death rate of 15.7 per 100,000, and an age-adjusted death rate of 10.2
Asians have the lowest death rate from the disease. Among those who have died, 7.2 percent were Asian.

Note: It only covers ~ 60% of the 63% reported Covid-19 fatalities, when you add the four groups together. Some of it is because the lab test results missing the ethnic group information.
So, it is not just the black community, it is mostly the non-Asian minority communities that got hit hard. Others could probably explain this better.
Could be underlying health issues, could be more crowding, less discipline about self-protection.
Figures.
No wonder Harvard doesn't let them in.
Perhaps the Chinese biologists engineered it to attack people with higher concentrations of melanin in their epidermis.
Nah. Just re-affirming that PDJT hates POC. Or something.
Social distancing is not being practiced in the hood.
Speaking of crowded conditions, anyone know if the CDC or NIH ever issued guidance regarding elevators and stairwells. NYC is a vertical city. And with folks told early on that covering the nose and mouth wouldn’t help, that may have been a huge mistake by the eggheads...
“The early data shows that of those who have died from coronavirus in the city, 34 percent were Latino residents, while 28 percent were blacks.”
How does this compare to the makeup of New York?
Asians hardly hit? And after some huge number probably went to China for their New Year family celebrations?
File this under things that make you go “hmmmmm.”
If you’re crammed into living quarters that make steerage on the Titanic look spacious, there’s no where to isolate a sick family member. NYC has one heckuva substandard housing issue, but the pols want warm bodies so nothing changes.
The only reason theyre releasing this breakdown by race is because they will want to push that the minorities get poorer health care, so our health care system is still very racist, even with Obamacare. Theyll say we need socialized medicine so that outcomes for all races are equal.
Asians have the lowest death rate from the disease.
Well, this guy's been in health care policy for over 30 years - what did he do about it during that time?
This might have something to do with the “Bell Curve”.
Asians have the lowest death rate from the disease. Among those who have died, 7.2 percent were Asian.
I think this just means that the percentage of Asians in NYC isn't all that high.
Original stories from months ago was that Asians were most vulnerable, possibly for genetic reasons. I have no idea if that is still a theory, but the wording here ("death rate") seems imply that Asians most invulnerable. I find that hard to believe. I don't think it's about "death rate" I think it's about "percentage of deaths" which is different. Of course, I'm no statistician, so my perception of the wording may be off.
Just who wanted to know so badly, and why?
So these statistics are generated from partial data, because not all mortality data included ethnic groups... Yet somehow I'll bet you the people "pressuring" for the numbers will miraculously turn out to be affiliated with professional victimhood groups that just happen to align with the ethnic groups identified by the incomplete data...

Others are getting hit hard! Time for reparations for others
“Could be underlying health issues, could be more crowding, less discipline about self-protection.”
The number one reason is the New York City Public housing crowded buildings. The housing is tall high rise buildings. Living in public housing in New York is like being on a cruise ship during the outbreak.
They need to do a break down on how many live in Public housing not by race.
Also the failure to follow instructions, according to some there are kids running streets and part of the population was treating it like a flu.
