Trump says IG report finding hospital shortages is 'just wrong'
The Hill ^ | 04 06 2020 | Peter Sullivan

President Trump on Monday claimed that an inspector general report finding "severe" shortages of supplies at hospitals to fight the novel coronavirus is "just wrong."

Trump did not provide evidence for why the conclusions of the 34-page report are wrong.

He implied that he is mistrustful of inspectors general more broadly. He recently fired the inspector general of the intelligence community, which has drawn outrage from Democrats.

"Did I hear the word inspector general?" Trump said in response to the reporter's question about the findings.

"It's just wrong," Trump said of the report.

The inspector general report, released earlier Monday, was based on a survey of 323 randomly selected hospitals across the country.

It found "severe" shortages of tests and long wait times as long as 7 days for hospitals. It also found "widespread" shortfalls of protective equipment such as masks for health workers, something that doctors and nurses have also noted for weeks.

"The inspector general report, released earlier Monday, was based on a survey of 323 randomly selected hospitals across the country."

A survey.

I strongly suspect every hospital is claiming they have a shortage.

At this point in time what hospital is going to admit they're fully stocked?

If they did they'd be asked to share and risk depleting their supply if or when they need them.

The survey was taken of over 300 hospitals March 23-27. That was 2 weeks ago. Things have changed. But since when do facts stop the media’s lies?

I don’t know, but shouldn’t hospitals be better prepared for emergencies like this? They prepare for mass shootings and other major disasters. Why would this be any different? Every hospital should have had an ample supply of everything they would use in an emergency situation.

Admiral pointed out that survey covered period of 3/23 to 3/25 when WAY less tests were available

BTW there are about 6100 hospitals in America so this is 5% of them.

It was wrong. The head of FEMA pointed out that the information was from a few weeks ago. And The person worked in the Obama administration!

People should watch the briefings instead of listing to what the feral media wants you to know about the briefings.

Amazing how quickly an IG report can be generated. Thought it took at least 2 years.

Re: Inspector Generals

Trump totally owns the multiple IG issues.

Until about six months ago, Trump had retained almost 100% of Barack Obama’s IGs!

Total insanity or total incompetence by Trump.

Even if the shortage is real, this has been an ongoing situation that is just exposing itself when the need is there. That means the problem was caused by past presidents who refused to bring the numbers up and to stockpile reserves.

****************************************************************************
The Military Supply Guy did explain it. It was an old report, and is not true at present. Conclusions are interpretations of the replies-there’s always room for disagreement over interpretation. Replies to a survey are not exactly evidence either.

I was so glad that Admiral was onto them. That was the situation 2 weeks ago. But they presented it like it was the situation right now. And of course, the IG is an Obama appointee. That was a political ambush.

There will be many falsehoods and exaggerations this year.

Watch the next few minutes as that issue is resolved in front of the cameras.

You will not regret spending a few minutes watching someone get taken from limb to limb.

Agree. Every hospital should be fully stocked for an emergency.

And this was a slow-moving emergency. Hospital boards should have known about what was coming and prepared.

It took me awhile to discover this trick;

1. Stop the video at the proper point.

2. click ‘share’

3.in the lower left of the popup window there is a box “Start at xx.xx”, which will be the point you stopped the video at.

4. click “copy”

5. paste the saved link in FR post.

6. the reader will see the video begin at the point you want him to.

At least that’s how it works on my desktop. Doesn’t work on my android.
