Bump To The Top
“Navy officials later announced they would offload 2,700 sailors in the coming days.”
Well that ascertains they are out of action.
Though I’m sure but a small fraction are actually sick.
All are asymptomatic or mild.
None require hospitalization.
“And of course, being a mutineer would certainly be better than being dead.”
No. Death before dishonor.
You, Sir are exactly right. I do believe that we served during the same period. All those NBC drills for nothing.
I don't know how this guy became your hero, but to me he looks like a poster child for The Peter Principle. He did fine till he got to this level, and then broke down.
The SecNav was right AND the crybaby crew NEEDED to hear the truth!
Ive seen it happen a couple of times.
Full blown stressed out melt down. Career ending stuff.
The key is the manic five page letter. At that level, equal to a corporate VP....they dont communicate like that.
Amen & Hallelujah! Every once in a while, I like to know SOMEONE understands the military!
You're right. That's not normal. As PDJT pointed out, "This isn't a literature class!"
When I joined they Army they had this playing on the TVs at the AFEES in Baltimore
I realize that now, FRiend - and I thought I recognized your screen name as a usual voice of sanity. But you stated the opposing side brilliantly and lined up the pins for me to knock down! Semper Fidelis...
Many people believe that's exactly how the virus infected the crew. Makes the usual venereal disease problems seem tame. KungFlu, weaponized by hookers.
I have the utmost respect towards any Naval captain, especially ones who command Air craft carriers and Comanders of Submarines and groups like COMSUBGRU9 or CINCLANTFLT. However this Captain exhibited an extreme lapse in judgement. He should have known better not to stir the pot and dip his toes into out of bounds territory of the chain of command and the UCMJ. If he were a submarine captain he would never again command a boat. Possibly demoted to XO or WEPS or less. I feel sorry for him though, for his outspoken display of concern for his crew. He seems to be quite charismatic and I would have been honored to have him as my Captain.
As a grunt I never had no empathy for no squids but if we are at war with the coronavirus what is the advantage in abandoning our troops? It’s not sentient to the point you need to keep it secret. Are we at war with China against the virus or both either way the suppression could have hedge utility. If it’s lead follow or get the hell outta the way then lead by example and quit lying to your followers. Are we at war with China or not.
As you all know by now, the Navy secretary has apologized for his remarks. For calling Captain Crozier naïve and stupid.
I also saw where President Trump is likely to weigh in on this situation.
I understand the mindset of obeying orders without question. I understand your disgust for the captain. But as Ive always said this situation was not what it appeared to be. This is a fluid situation I think then and I think now the captain was right.
I cannot get past the fact that he was in contact with the SECNAV's Chief of Staff the very same day he sent out that email blast. I know you think "it's all lies" but if they were in touch by email, those emails will have to be produced during the investigation.
The fact that the Governor of Guam got blowback shows me that they were indeed in the process of trying to arrange onshore quarters for the sailors they were about to evacuate. This too proves to me that they were not ignoring his concerns.
That the Admiral -- his boss -- was right down the passageway and got by-passed by this 5 page manifesto sent to over 20 people tells me that this was in no way the work of someone operating as they should be.
I also think that he or one of the recipients of his email (with his consent) released it to a hostile press.
That Modly got pressured into apologizing by his boss is unfortunate, but I suppose that's politics. However, I cannot see any situation whatsoever that would justify the Captain's actions.
So I'll reiterate: that Crozier fellow is someone's darling. I think we'll see him connected to Pelosi by June.
Thank you, sir! :-)
