As you all know by now, the Navy secretary has apologized for his remarks. For calling Captain Crozier naïve and stupid.
I also saw where President Trump is likely to weigh in on this situation.
I understand the mindset of obeying orders without question. I understand your disgust for the captain. But as Ive always said this situation was not what it appeared to be. This is a fluid situation I think then and I think now the captain was right.
I cannot get past the fact that he was in contact with the SECNAV's Chief of Staff the very same day he sent out that email blast. I know you think "it's all lies" but if they were in touch by email, those emails will have to be produced during the investigation.
The fact that the Governor of Guam got blowback shows me that they were indeed in the process of trying to arrange onshore quarters for the sailors they were about to evacuate. This too proves to me that they were not ignoring his concerns.
That the Admiral -- his boss -- was right down the passageway and got by-passed by this 5 page manifesto sent to over 20 people tells me that this was in no way the work of someone operating as they should be.
I also think that he or one of the recipients of his email (with his consent) released it to a hostile press.
That Modly got pressured into apologizing by his boss is unfortunate, but I suppose that's politics. However, I cannot see any situation whatsoever that would justify the Captain's actions.
So I'll reiterate: that Crozier fellow is someone's darling. I think we'll see him connected to Pelosi by June.
