It really doesn't sound like they were "left to fend for themselves." If nothing else, the Governor of Guam had already agreed to let them come ashore and was apparently arranging hotel rooms for them. It's clear that things were happening, and he was simply impatient for them to happen faster, and thought he could pressure them by this leak to the press.

I don't know how this guy became your hero, but to me he looks like a poster child for The Peter Principle. He did fine till he got to this level, and then broke down.

I’ve seen it happen a couple of times.

Full blown stressed out melt down. Career ending stuff.

The key is the manic five page letter. At that level, equal to a corporate VP....they don’t communicate like that.

As you all know by now, the Navy secretary has apologized for his remarks. For calling Captain Crozier naïve and stupid.

I also saw where President Trump is likely to weigh in on this situation.

I understand the mindset of obeying orders without question. I understand your disgust for the captain. But as I’ve always said this situation was not what it appeared to be. This is a fluid situation I think then and I think now the captain was right.
