Defense Secretary Esper backed acting Navy Secretary Modlys decision to relieve Capt. Crozier of command over memo seeking help in protecting sailors amid coronavirus outbreak on board

This has left a huge hole in our defense and transmitted valuable information regarding our posture, readiness and capabilities to China, our enemy.
“its just wrong for Sec. Nav. to tell that to the crew.”
The Captain waived his right to privacy when he effectively leaked the email to the MSM. The crew deserves to know the truth. They are not going to get it from the MSM.
That's just great. Between these snowflake E1 - E4s and the Pentagon O6+ deadwood leftover from Obama, do we have anyone capable of winning a war?
Reminded of a song line:
“Everybody talkin’ but they just don’t know.”
This isn’t new. After 9/11 there was a lot of whining by military members saying, “What is this? I just joined for the benefits!!”
I was being sarcastic
“the chain of command that DID NOTHING!”
You statement is disproved by the facts.
A lot of pissed off 50 and 60 somethings who are willing to lock and load 👍
Maybe the crew had a lot of fun while on liberty in Da Nang and that is why they liked Crozier so much.
Thanks for some sanity and I concur.
The San Francisco Chronicle is not the place to air this crap unless the Navy was doing nothing and I refuse to believe they were doing nothing.
A Captain of a ship does not announce via a liberal rag that one of our most critical strategic assets is combat ineffective. What he did panicked the sailors families, panicked Guam, and VERY CLEARLY violated the chain of command. It was entirely inappropriate from start to finish and I felt that way even before I read that he had reached out to the Captain and was working on getting them what they needed.
Not even a perfumed palace prince is going to allow 5000 sailors on one of our capital ships to turn into the cruise ship from hell. Who in their right mind (and not named Clinton) would send such an email via a non-secured system?
Yep, and these gripers are a tempest in a chamber pot.

Spot on. This is a ship that is arguably on the front line during an undeclared war with China. The captain told the world it couldnt fight. Would it be far fetched to imagine he was working with the enemy? Even a Senator had a Chinese spy working by her side for 20 years, so why not a Navy Captain?
That post made me laugh.
I remember the “I joined for college”, “I joined for the medical”, and “I joined for the free daycare for my three kids. I am a single parent, you know” crowd.
“I have to deploy?” “Me” “I can’t”
My wife got a lot of gold jewelry from the middle east from the hazardous duty pay - and tax free to boot.
Maybe if the Captain hadn’t slept through a lot of his classes at the Academy he would have known that had he properly followed the chain of command and was ignored he could have gone directly to the IG (without notifying the press).
You don’t know that he notified the press. For all we know, The Navy Secretary leaked his letter to the press.
Was Crozier set up? Even if he is guilty, I think the Pentagon has questions that need to be investigated.
But his basic points were:
1.) Crozier talked to him by phone, and to his Chief of Staff, and exchanged emails, and seemed mostly satisfied. Then later that night, this letter comes out. If this is accurate, SECNAV et al were truly blindsided.
2.) He violated chain of command AND leaked classified information.
3.) The media will always (and is now) using the information to embarrass the Navy
4.) It undermines the nation's confidence in (and any enemy's fear of) our military
5.) Your shipmates on shore who have been working to get you what you need and arrange for your care have been working very hard and felt "thrown under the bus" by this letter
6.) The Governor of Guam, who is welcoming us ashore, has been put on the spot because her constituents are freaking out that you guys have COVID and she's bringing you ashore.
7.) Biden is using this to make political hay
8.) Imagine if all 300 COs in the Navy operated like this, going to the media every time they were mad at their boss?
That's a basic summary, and I agreed with all those points. LIke I said, his ramblings on love I would have left out, for the most part, but that's me.
LOL!
No. When I signed up, all of the good screen handles were already taken, so I chose a bad one.
