Dr. Deborah Birx: This Is Not the Time to Go to the Grocery Store
Breitbart ^ | 4/4/20 | Charlie Spiering

Posted on 04/04/2020 6:58:35 PM PDT by david1292

Dr. Deborah Birx said Saturday that Americans should especially focus on social distancing guidelines in the next two weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe,” she said.

Birx noted that Pennsylvania, Colorado, and the Washington, DC, metro area were starting to have an increasing number of cases.

“We’re hoping and believing that if people mitigate strongly, the work that they did over the last two weeks will blunt that curve,” she said.

She pointed to really bad hotspots in New Jersey and New York, where cases of the virus and deaths were still going up.

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” she said.

Dr. Anthony Fauci also said three or four hotspots were continuing to rise, but that certain areas could flatten the curve by social distancing.

“Just make sure everybody does the at least minimal amount of that physical separation, because the virus has no place to go if you’re physically separating,” Fauci said.

I posted this link earlier in a chat thread, only because it’s not new “news” but certainly of interest. On January 26th, CNN published this article that talks about the Chinese New Year of the Rat, illness, while advocating travelling unnoticed, and even donating blood.

well I saw a gal wearing one of those hooded clear rain coats, mask and glasses...with boots as well! A garbage bag would work! LOL.

All I can say is if it looks like too many people in the store go back later...or try another store. I actually went to a dollar store that had it’s own outside entrance at the mall. there was just myself and one other shopper and 2 clerks in there and full shelves...went about 3:00 in afternoon.

I can relate to your sense of possibly chickening out. I did that a week ago....but then went out the next day. Tuesday and Wednesday’s work best for the least shoppers in my area....But I’m in now for the long haul. Not going out again unless to just drive around so I don’t get cabin fever.

I actually found a pair of plastic gloves in my hair dye I I used at first....didn’t have to think about door handles or what I was touching and just pulled them inside out and chucked in the trash outside the store.

Do protect your hands for sure.

I hear ya about the “few folks around”.

Since I’m not doing my usual travel, I’m commuting back and forth to the office. Right now I can make the trip in half the normal time due to the lower amount of traffic.

At my Costco the shopping carts block the big entrance so only a single file can walk in—only groups of 2 or less per card and you have to wait in a 15 minute line because they only let a few people in at a time. They have several employees walking around with cloths and spray bottles wiping all handles down.

Ever since Michael Mann, I’m suspicious of “hockey stick” graphs.

Can you explain what we are looking at, who’s the source of the data, what population? Thanks.

I’m lucky. Our chickens are cranking out 5-7 eggs a day. But milk, fresh produce, and bananas are a problem. We are good on paper products for 3 weeks at least, but Mom’s uh “older lady stuff” has been in short supply and is a bit dicier...

I don’t know where you live but here’s some advice based on where I am. I’m in a fair-sized city and belong to an online nextdoor.com group. Maybe you have a group in your area or neighborhood too. When the lockdowns hit, we immediately had neighbors posting that they’re willing to help others who need to stay in by shopping for them. Willing hands everywhere.

If that’s not available to you, I’d contact a local church or civic organization. We have elected township officials who also help in time of need. Any of these sources could be able to help or direct you to help.

If home delivery like Shipt or InstaCart isn’t available in your area, you might call the stores you frequent to see if they offer curbside pickup or other options.

I know it can be hard to ask for help and don’t know why so many of us are wired that way. Most people enjoy helping others but need to know what they need so they can. God bless.

I once bought several dozen eggs on sale but didn’t use before expiration date. So I cracked them, put in sandwich bags and froze them. When I thawed them out the yolks were like rubber—I was surprised. So now I beat 4-6 at a time with a half cup of milk. They thaw out fine—good for scrambled eggs or waffle batter. I freeze milk too when near expiration date and use in can soups or batters.

People who bake had to start scarfing up flour because the people who don’t bake scarfed up all of the bread.

Call a freezer repair guy... most have a few reconditioned freezers on hand that they have redone themselves at any given time or know who does, and they’re cheaper, will last many years.

“So who does Dr. Birx send to the grocery store”

I’m sure she has “people”. As with all elites she doesn’t realize we all don’t.
