Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House coronavirus task force, said Friday China and other nations should be pressured to shut down so-called wet markets as the new novel coronavirus spreads throughout the world.
[They] should shut down those things right away, Fauci told 'Fox & Friends" Friday. It just boggles my mind that when we have so many diseases that emanate out of that unusual human-animal interface that we dont just shut it down.
Scientists have yet to determine exactly how the novel coronavirus spreading around the globe began infecting people. But theories have swirled that the virus originated in bats, then infected another animal that passed it to humans at a market in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
The Chinese government has allowed some wet markets in the country to reopen as the coronavirus threat has reportedly decreased, but the one in Wuhan remains closed, according to Fox News. The Hunan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan was linked to an early large cluster of coronavirus cases, according to The Washington Post. Chinas wet markets sell dead and living animals for human consumption and are known for lack of hygiene and government oversight.

Probably because the Chinese know damned well that’s not where it started.
What about the research that U of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was doing on a grant from the NIH and in collaboration with the Wuhan lab?
What about that Dr. Fauci?
It’s not mind boggling at all. The Chinese government knows the virus didn’t come from a “wet” market and the markets are quite popular, so why shut them down?
That's because the Communist Chinese government KNOWS it didn't start in a wet market.Bring Out Your DeadThey know it was lab grown.
Use your noodle, Fauci!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
The false positive rate was 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old farts life, it's worth it.
“The Chinese government knows the virus didnt come from a wet market”
Fauci damn well knows it too.
Thank you. What does it even matter? If some inelegant little Chinese lady wants to have some bat soup let her have some bat soup.
That ain’t where the disease came from.
Well then maybe there's a different explanation like a certain biolab right up the road
Dr Doom is a fool if he does not understand this. The ChiComs are trying to convince the people that the crises is over, keeping the market closed ruins the narrative. Plus it probably means that they know it didnt start there.
Earlier this week Tucker Carlson did a segment on the origin of the coronavirus. Carlson, who has been pretty aggressive in his coverage of the virus, pointed out a Chinese research paper (since pulled by the author) which claimed the virus could not have arisen at the Wuhan wet market because the horseshoe bats where the virus arose were not for sale at the market. In fact, the bats are not naturally found anywhere within 900 miles of the market. However, bats were being studied for viruses they carried in two labs including one just a few hundred meters from the market.
The abbreviation for Bat Soup is BS~!
Novel coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95 percent had China responded to the outbreak just three weeks earlier than it did, a March 13 study by the University of Southampton has found.
President Xi Jinpings: "The Yellow Peril ChiCom Wuhan Pneumonia Novel Coronavirus aka the Red Death/Mass People Killing Virus, Chinobyl#2, The Yellow Peril, CCP virus Made in China!"
I agree with him and I think it’s very important that he go to China and help those poor people out with his skills and knowledge.
Was just about to post the same....only adding....and, he can take Bill Gates with him.
Poor commies got to get their protein somewhere Dr. Fauci. Say, what do you think about that HCQ/ZPack/Zinc regimen?
Think we could all do that and go back to work now? We’ve got a ton of unused hospital space and ventilators should that not work and we may be able to save what’s left of the economy.
no it’s not. this guy knows nothing about china.
Exactly. This guy is in the middle of a “wet” dream closing down America, so let’s start with the rest of the world. This did not come from a wet market.
Cuz that’s not where the virus started, Tony.
China and most communists in general have a very different concept of the value of human life. Not sure why so many are just now discovering this.
They can wear masks and capes like a superhero duo . . . or something.
And kids, here’s a fun game you can play at home.
Here’s a list of Chinese cities:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_China_by_population
Take the name of any city, and google (for example) “Kunming wet market”.
You’ll get results like this:
“The biggest wet market in Kunming selling large range of vegetables, meat, fruits and deli.”
Challenge: China has over 800 cities. Find any city in all of china that does NOT have a wet market.
Find cities that are near the natural habitat of the coronavirus bat. Find cities like Wuhan that are 900 kilometers away. Find big cities. Find small cities.
But for all these thousands of wet markets in China, the one, the only one that the coronavirus originated from is also by complete coincidence the ONLY one that is locted next to a level four pathogen lab that according to their own press releases was a leading research center for bat coronaviruses.
Have fun.
Why shut them down since the virus didn’t come from bat soup?
