President Donald Trump told major league sports commissioners in a conference call that he believes the NFL season should start as scheduled in September, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday.
On the call, Trump also said he wants fans back in sporting venues by August and September, according to the report. The August and September dates correspond with the kickoff to both college football and the NFL seasons.
Medical experts have not yet publicly said if that timeline is a viable one.
LSU football is supposed to open its 2020 season on Sept. 5 against UT San Antonio. The NFL's schedule has not yet been released, but the first Thursday Night game is scheduled to be played on Sept. 10.
According to a White House pool report, 12 major league commissioners were on the conference call with Trump, including NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
Mark Emmert, the president of the NCAA, was notably not on the call.

Nailed it. As for the comment about what the “medical experts” will have to say? I am quite sure the President can round up plenty of them to take his side and allowing America back to doing what we do best which is anything we choose to do.
Make the call Mr President there are more people than you can know who will back you. Just suggest those 65 and over maintain quarantine until this thing is mostly over and tell the rest of us to let it rip!

Really? The President is free to express his thoughts and provide his reasoning for ending this scam. How will it play politically? Who knows but he has my vote either way.
I seriously doubt in the face of what we know about this China virus it is even close to being legal to force people to stay in their homes.

Plus the trend to not allow starters at most positions to play at all in the preseason (or barely play). I’m an eagles fan and seems every year for the past five or so we are sitting at 2-4 at mid October and fighting for our lives the rest of the season because the team stunk on ice in September. Even the Patriots are laying eggs most Septembers, prompting the inevitable ‘is this the end for them?’ articles. Then they get to play the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets in October and all is well.
My point is, the virus is going to do what it’s going to do.

Removal of masks, gloves, and other symbols of panic should be mandatory before entering stadium. The sheeple won’t like it, but they can stay home.
I thought Trump hated the National Felons League? If I never see another NFL game in my life that’s fine by me.
I think he’s using them. As the MSM/Dems love the NFL and the players, Trump knows this is the path to getting us up and running. Plus most of the newspapers had to lay off their sportwriters, and the networks NEED the revenue.
