Americans shouldnt assume hydroxychloroquine is a knockout drug in preventing or treating COVID-19, White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Friday.
We still need to do the definitive studies to determine whether any intervention, not just this one, is truly safe and effective, Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on Fox News. But when you dont have that information, its understandable why people might want to take something anyway even with the slightest hint of being effective.

Why can’t we ask all doctors throughout the country who have prescribed HCQ to patients for lupus and arthritis in the past few months to check and see if any of these patients have developed Covid-19? This data could tell us a lot. I heard some doctor in China did something like this and found that none of the 80 patients had developed Covid-19 at that time.
On Feb 17th, Fauci said....don't worry about it.
Two things about this: (1) it doesn’t have to be a “knockout” drug, it just has to be good enough to prevent the hospitals from being overwhelmed; and (2) there is a mounting body of evidence that it does work. There. That’s all he has to say. No exaggeration, no fear-mongering. Don’t let the Dems and the media set an impossibly high standard of perfection because there will always be somebody with a negative reaction. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just good enough.
I hear Trump’s people have overruled the White House Correspondents Association and let the chick from OANN back in. She needs to start asking Fauci about this.
This guy calls himself a professional. He obviously thinks we are talking about chloroform.
It works well used early on.
After they need or have been put on a ventilator not so much.
It’s being used as a hail mary pass.
Dr F - We ARE going to assume that. You go ahead and do the 10-year research that will prove it definitively to you, but we are going to go ahead with a wartime assessment and help save lives.
LOL, good move.
Well, even if sick you can’t get it anyway.
For some reason it is “restricted”
Some lawyer somewhere is going to get rich when a patient that would have had a decent chance is denied this drug and dies or has a significant complication.
I will testify for the plaintiff. (49 yr. as MD still practicing family medicine) and have had my Rx for plaquenil denied for a patient I considered at high risk with no ability to test in a timely manner.
Thus my judgment is of highest priority in an individual case. Not the pharmacist or her non-medical boss.
Her corporate boss “restricted” it. Not the government

He has interested in a company making a competeing therapeutic. This is the only thing that makes sense.
Interestingly enough, I’m not seeing anyone, as of today, that is publicly praising farci on FR. I think he’s finally done for
Actually, he is the one responsible for the confusion the libs are complaining about. First, no masks, could do greater harm. Then the rumor Trump was silencing him. Then the on tv dust up with Trump re Hydroxychloroquine. Now we are to wear face coverings. If it isnt Faucis idea, he pouts.
Trump needs to dismiss Fauci because he is intentionally undermining the President and has caused deaths with his uncertainties.
I heard/read there was a huge controlled study in Minnesota, but not finding the article now.
There goes his second Metal of Freedom. I read someone had posted on here a few threads back.
Oh come off it
Don’t play like you are our enemy the traitorous media
Rather than trying to make something out of every statement the man makes you are hurting the President’s efforts. Fauci knows more about that’s happening than you can in your general ignorance even dream about.
I do not think Fauci was exactly the President’s choice.
If Fauchi becomes infected, will he refuse hydroxychloroquine?
Funny how the many -- if not most -- of the infectious disease specialists around the world who ARE treating their patients with HCQ are calling it a 'game changer'.
Just one example of the many infectious disease specialists treating COVID-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine:
Dr. Stephen Smith is an infectious disease specialist in Roseland, New Jersey and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area. He has been in practice for more than 20 years. (U.S. News & World Report)
