The way it sound is those that the IRS has direct deposit data should get the checks this month. If you are getting it mailed then it starts sometime next month.

90% of filers do so electronically. All Social Security folks are in the system and all receive their checks electronically.
The only stragglers as I see it are those who are first time filers (2019) and have not filed yet. That could indeed put folks checks into September...but if you're waiting to the last moment (especially if you owe money) it surely will be September.
