ZURICH (Reuters) - Novartis Chief Executive Vas Narasimhan said his Sandoz generics unit's malaria, lupus and arthritis drug hydroxychloroquine is the company's biggest hope against the coronavirus, Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung reported on Sunday.

Novartis has pledged to donate 130 million doses and is supporting clinical trials needed before the medicine, which U.S. President Donald Trump also has been promoting, can be approved for use against the coronavirus.

Other companies including Bayer and Teva have also agreed to donate hydroxychloroquine or similar drugs, while Gilead Sciences is testing its experimental drug remdesivir against coronavirus.

Yep, there must be some kind of catch.

It was sarcasm. I was going to add a /s, but figured my following paragraph would suffice.

Another positive about the quick turnaround testing time with that machine is that from my understanding the Machines are already in use all around the country for testing for other viruses etc. The only change is simply producing the correct testing kit to be administered and inserted into the machine.

Zinc Picolinate. Gluconate and the others are not bioavailable. I have a supply I was able to secure but it is sold out everywhere. There are studies showing of all the zinc supplements only picolinate supplementation increases blood and hair levels. I am not the only one that knows this. Like I said, it is sold out everywhere.

HCQ may allow cell uptake of gluconic or feritic zinc. I am supplementing with picolinate because it does get into cells. Hair cells at the very least, but there is no reason to believe it does not get into all cells boosting intracellular zinc levels.

The leading theory of how HCQ works is it opens a pathway into the cells allowing zinc to get into the cells and zinc interrupts viral replication. Zinc picolinate opens its own pathway into the cells.

This virus scared the crap out of me and I got to speed reading academic white papers on immunity and immune response to virii.

Additionally what I found:

Take vitamin D3. Studies show a lower incidence and less severity for pulmonary viral and bacterial infections. (20% reduction overall and 70% in deficient people in a 10,000 participant study) Caltrate at the recommended dose provides the amount that was studied. Being the sun vitamin, almost everyone is deficient in winter. This spring, get your tan on!! D3 is critically involved in the construction and repair of cell walls so I see a reason for this to be valid.

I hate to point it out but look at France. “Pig” Pharma has pulled some really really shady stuff with HCQ, and even here some have too. Not all Pharma companies are whores like not all lawyers are human scum, but some are. Many are. Look at that Skirelli psyco and epi pens. Extreme example, granted, but some Pharma is run by psycos.

I tried posting the article but FR rejected Politico (I don’t blame it)

I believe Politico articles must be posted in bloggers, not news. Chat always works.

When this thing is finally over can you imagine the quid pro Joe these company’s that are donating Chloroquine will be asking for?

We're sitting on an older Rx of Hydroxycloroquine 200mg and also have some zinc (zycam) and a few antibiotics.

Anyone have info on what the dosage of HCQ that is being administered?

“The leading theory of how HCQ works is it opens a pathway into the cells allowing zinc to get into the cells and zinc interrupts viral replication. Zinc picolinate opens its own pathway into the cells”

I was reading somewhere last week that Licorice root (ancient Chinese secret?) is supportive of Respiratory and digestive function. So I added that into my regimen along with a multi vitamin with 100% DV of zinc (it is zinc oxide and probably not the right kind) Vitamin D3 and a mega vitamin C tablet. Unfortunately of numerous bottles of multi vitamins that we have none of them contain Zinc picolinate. Just oxide and citrate variety.

I wonder why they don’t call this drug HCQ. So much easier to discuss.

Just an FYI, I just read an article (see below) that zinc picolinate is by far the best absorbed version of Zinc as others have mentioned.

iHerb and Swanson have stock. Amazingly iHerb only charged me $1 to ship a bottle.

There’s always the possibility that they figure if they give it to the federal government, the feds will lose track of where it is. Not a bad bet in normal times.

the zinc in Zicam is listed as ‘zincum acedicum’ and ‘zincum gluconicum’. When absorbed sub lingual (under the tongue) these have a high bioavailability. Thanks for your post-ping. Be well

All the sources I have tried are out of zinc picolinate. I’m using Zicam sub lingual.

Cell walls are the issue. Acidicum may or not be picolinate. It is a voodoo witch doctor homeopathy term. Picolinate is an acid. I suspect the second zinc in Zicam is zinc acetate. I have seen no studies on zinc acetate. I have seen it on zinc gluconate, the first zicam ingredient and as far as passing cell walls, it does not.

Almost all over the counter stuff marginally increases blood serum levels but the picolinate does that AND passes cell walls as is evidenced by increased zinc in hair and red blood cells. The other forms dont. HCQ seems to allow the other forms to traverse cell walls. For zinc to interfere with viral replication it has to get into the cell to gunk up the viral replication via hijacking cell machinery works. I may be right or I may be wrong about this being prophylactic but there is no downside.
