NEW YORK (AP) — New York state's coronavirus death toll is nearing 1,000, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday. The state accounts for more than 40% of coronavirus deaths in the U.S.
The number of disease-related deaths in the state jumped to 965 from 728 on Saturday, Cuomo said. The vast majority have been in New York City.
Figures released Sunday morning showed 678 coronavirus deaths in the city, which continues to be the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S. The city had 161 deaths in a 24-hour period spanning Saturday to Sunday, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
Meanwhile, ambulances in the city are responding to a record number of calls and new data is showing which parts of the city are being hit the hardest by disease.

Not to minimize what is going on but I’ve worked in NYC for years and sirens have been constant the whole time. I could sleep by sirens.
Did NYC let in thousands of Chinese like Italy did ?
These Democrat Mayors and Governors are totally incompetent. As I’ve said before numerous times, these Mayors and Governors have completely abandoned basic needs for their people because they want to be on some stupid global stage. That’s it. It’s all about the cocktail parties, the favorable media coverage, and rubbing elbows with other global elites.
I must say though that I just spoke to a coworker in NYC (I frequent the city for work but live elsewhere) and the person told me the sirens have very noticeably spiked. To the point where it’s unnerving. So there may be some truth to this story.

Too true. If it’s not an ambulance, it’s the cops.
We honeymooned in NYC in 1962 and sirens were always in the air. The people just kept walking.....never batted an eye.
Same here - have been going multiple times per month for many years (via NJT) and the last time was the second week of March. Guess it’ll be a while longer.

It may be a problem is Sodomite City downstate, but out here in god’s country Western NY.... no sirens to he heard.
That number is staggering. Most people may not understand the context of it. If you took the Chinese population of New York City and made it a separate city, it would be about the 14th-largest city in the U.S. today.
Has this tape of deBlasio advising everyone in NYC to go out on the town been all over the CNN news?
