(TNS) As the administration ramps up its response to the continuing spread of Wuhan coronavirus, President Donald Trump is becoming increasingly frustrated with the constant carping coming from (mostly) Democratic governors and mayors.
Despite the fact that the government has stockpiled pandemic response supplies in warehouses around the country, anyone who’s been in government at the state or federal level for any length of time knows that it takes time, thanks to bureaucracy, for ‘things to happen’ like getting those supplies distributed.
Not to mention the fact that America is a big place with 50 states and right now, pretty much of all of them are experiencing shortages of medical supplies like personal protective equipment (PPE) — those masks, latex gloves, and paper-like gowns worn by healthcare staffers to protect themselves from becoming infected.
Mind you, we are short of those supplies in the normal global supply pipeline because of decisions made for decades by past presidents, congresses, and American corporations to offshore the majority of U.S. industrial capacity to make these items in our own country.
Nearly all of that capacity has been moved to China, a potential adversary and country that is responsible for this outbreak. The Chinese government has forbidden those supplies to be shipped out of the country because the Chinese government needs them for its own people. Go figure.
So, given all of this, it isn’t as though the president can snap his fingers and magically ship all of the PPE requested by, say, the governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of good people working 24/7 to get the states what they need. Thus, as a governor, publicly whining about what your state doesn’t have yet isn’t helpful because you’re not alone, by a long shot.

There is one sure-fire solution to the problem of “government distribution” systems.
Public-private partnership. We buy the supplies at a slightly inflated rate and contract with Walmart, Amazon, Target, Costco, and other large retailers for storage and distribution.
This will allow them to maintain and cycle inventory on critical supplies so that items do not spoil and they are far better (and faster) at distributing items. This is what FEMA should have done after Katrina, but the media and left were so anxious to bash Bush with it (sound familiar?) that they ended up trying to turn FEMA into your neighborhood fire department with a truck at every corner (slight exaggeration, but not much).
Blast the half twit Governor. I know alot of people in MI’s Upper Peninsula are sick of her trying to micro- managing doctors , pharmacists and the President of the US RESIGN GRETCHEN

I’m living in MA in midst of the ruins of a once great textile producing state. Old factories along our rivers still look amazing even though they’re empty and crumbling.
These enormous brick palaces could EASILY produce all the PPE the USA needs, no problemo.
It’s sad, they’ve all been killed off.
I imagine this is how starving dark-age peasants felt foraging for food underneath formerly great Roman aqueducts and building.
Compared to how we reacted after December 7, 1941, the Federal government (after a Trumpian kick in the pants) is doing remarkably well. In fact, if the MSM had applied the same treatment to FDR, they would have rolled his ass out of the White House and shot him on the White House lawn for how badly we did at the outset of WW2.
Apparently, Michigan didn’t learn its lesson from Jennifer Granholm.

Trump should instruct Mayors that they are required to funnel their requests and complaints through their Governors. Trump should refuse their calls and have them auto-forwarded to the appropriate Governor.
I hope they are calling and emailing and starting petitions to have her removed.
And after all of this,the assh*le Democrats will not be scratched but they will impeach President Trump AGAIN for what they have done before,during and after.
I don’t know what it is, but liberal women clearly do not make the best public executives.
Michigan should get NOTHING from the federal government until that woman starts showing some respect for her president.
