Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie punched back at critics who took issue with his attempts to force a quorum vote on the recently passed $2 trillion coronavirus package.
The Kentucky congressman was hit from all sides of the political spectrum for his stand Friday, from President Donald Trump, who called him a third rate grandstander, to former Secretary of State John Kerry, who joked that Massie was an a***ole who must be quarantined to prevent the spread of his massive stupidity.
I guess I was able to force them to come to work but I couldnt force them to work, Massie told Bream. Ultimately, they came to D.C., but they decided not to vote on it at all, and thats unfortunate because I didnt delay the vote at all. I think that is with the president was upset with. He didnt understand the process that I was proposing. You know, Tuesday, the Senate was here and they were voting, and the House the House leadership, Pelosi and McCarthy, said, you know what, lets just pass this on in unanimous consent and tell everybody to stay home, dont bother coming to Congress.'

Kerry’s description may have been spot on, but this guy obviously is new at it because he hasn’t learned the First Rule of Holes.
Oh, boo frickin' hoo, they have the best medical care in the world, unlinke those who were subject to their stupid ass Obama Care.
WOW! Guess you don’t care how your reps leaned then? Or is that a foregone conclusion in your district. It is in mine.
LOL! I learned a LONG time ago how to tell when to quit digging.
Massie shouldn’t have done that at the last minute. He should have made it known earlier in the negotiations.
You must be kidding me. What you just posted there is the ONE reason why Massies move made sense. If police officers and EMTs and doctors and truck drivers are working to keep this country functioning, then the LEAST these morons can do is show up and do their damn jobs.
Exactly
Others of us are considered essential and have continued to work at the same (or greater) risk (depending on our jobs) and we do so for a lot less money, we can’t vote ourselves raises, pad our expense accounts, or travel on someone else’s dime.
How many “police officers and EMTs and truck drivers” are in their 70’s and 80’s? Now there probably are some doctors who are. All we can hope for them is good PPE and God’s mercy.
Earlier? His request was upon the VOTING procedure. Typically that occurs at the time of voting.
But you, and your employer, do what you can to reduce your exposure. What Massie did was just the opposite, all for the sake of showboating.
“Earlier? His request was upon the VOTING procedure. Typically that occurs at the time of voting.”
He could easily have said two days earlier, that he wanted the roll call vote. He knew that members wanted to go into isolation and would need to leave.
Yeah, one a-hole, calling another a-hole, an a-hole."
If this was too much for them then maybe they should t have fun for Congress. Nancy also didnt do anything with the bill on Thursday. Congress has told truck drivers , supermarket employees, police ,drs and everyone else to keep working. The leaders of the country should show a little bit of class and lead by example instead of crying like little twerps.
We have a president in his 70s who does a press briefing every damn day sometimes for two hours at a time. I never thought Id see the day when someone here on FR would take a GOP Congressman to task for having the audacity to compel his fellow House members to show up and VOTE.
Yes, absolutely. NOT to allow a “virus” whose outcome we are still learning to be-— be characterized as something to “override” the Constitutionally mandated... MANDATED fact of actual quorum present. The same “virus” which is exposing the Tyrant dem governors with AUTOCRATIC shutdowns of people and situations that allows them to control the populace-— because they think they can. Exposure of same will cost many of these governors their office. Particularly dictating physician therapy choices between a doctor and a patient-— no way, not even the 10th Amendment or their own state constitutions allow this. Revolts are happening, now.
#1.) so that the vote would be Constitutionally sound (unlike obamaumaocare which was “deemed” to have passed and then had a blackmailed SCOTUS Roberts “making law” through the courts on the nature of the TAX in the bill!! Anti-Constitutional again!).
2.) So that the bill, which Massie voted FOR, btw— would be able to be signed by the President, and not be logrolled, and a potential yet again “impeach” fraud set up!
More to come on this “bill” which has billions going to things that have NOTHING to do with with combating a virus, including... a freaking pay raise. Impoundment and Recission. Yes.
